My blog is at:

jim-duncan.blogspot.co.uk

My last post was a week ago on the 15th and did not generate much interest.

On the 21st and again today (22nd) I had two peaks in my pageviews stats around about 400 in an hour with any one post getting about 50 hits.

I can't imagine a 'web robot' spreading its interest over so many posts in such a short time.

Has anyone else observed this sort of pattern recently?

I get a boost in hits when someone mentions one of my articles and such. Does blogspot have a way to show which pages/articles are accessed? Wordpress will even show where clicks are coming from.

Have a look at your stats – specifically the Audience – I'm getting several hundred hits from Russia at the moment. I read that there is a very badly written search engine operating from that area

Yes, Russia seems to be behind it.

All sorts of posts in general.

Thanks guys.

I had the same thing happen a couple of days ago…those Russians have been busy!

Is it a bad thing?
Does it do any harm to your blog?
I know nothing about these things.

JimDuncanUK22 Jul 2016 9:42 a.m. PST

It doesn't seem to be doing any obvious harm apart from inflating the pageview count.

There is nothing in my blog about my financial details just in case this is an attempt to cream off sensitive information.

Same here .. though I am aware there is a wargames community in Russia of some size. I assume they wanted to look at my Cossacks.

Oh Bugger22 Jul 2016 2:39 p.m. PST

They might have too. I mostly get a couple of Russian hits a post and that's grand especially as I haven't done a Russian topic yet. Yesterday I got 20 Russian hits. I'd like to think I've just tapped the Russian wargaming community big time but perhaps not.

GarrisonMiniatures22 Jul 2016 3:18 p.m. PST

In the last week I've had 960 Russian pageviews – nearly a third of my total number of Russian pageviews over nearly 2 years. So something strange.

normsmith22 Jul 2016 3:52 p.m. PST

Yep 888 hits yesterday and 583 today – Russia now appears to be the no1 nation looking at my blog, knocking both the US and UK off their traditional 1st and 2nd placings.

I was particularly amused as I have recently stopped blogging.

I just checked my Blog and found that hits from Russia are well ahead of everything else put together.
