I did some more work on the gaming table mats, hopefully this report answers some questions.

Take a look if you like link

I see Lowe's carries a tan one, too, for the same price. It appears to have more of a pattern to its texture.

I was thinking of getting something for a ping-pong table, and this would cover most of it. I need 9'long, but having 6" on each end for other stuff wouldn't be a problem.

Typically outstanding work and documentation, thank you!

Too bad about placing objects under the mat not really working out, but maybe perfection is just not in the cards.

The road sections were particularly effective.

Please remind those who may have missed your original post of what the mat material is, where you found it, price, etc, and you will have performed another public service.

Gratefully,
TVAG

Great stuff, thanks for posting. Left a comment on your blog too. Lots of useful pics.

TVAG,

I am working on more road sections now, soon to be posted!

I(off camera, of course) brutally mistreated one of the mats trying to get it to relax enough to drape properly without any success at all. Quite a shame.

Quite right you are Old Fellow about the starting point of all this! A terrible oversight on my part:

Try scrunched up newsprint under the mat. You can press down until you get the slope you like.

I have been using a mat very close to this which I bought at Home Depot cut off a giant carpet roll when it first came to our area many years ago now. It had a more natural green/brown color. Then they stopped carrying it for about 10 years. Glad to see something like this come back even if it is very green.

Good Article.

how well does it fold/roll? unfold without creases?

thanks
andy

Andy Skinner,

It rolls up just fine, I have a bit of it folded up under a thirty pound ammo can right now, I will report back after a few days to see if it unfolds without creases.
