link I don't think I want to stand in line for 10 hours to play in a Bogdanwaz or Mexican Jack Squint game. No offense guys, but…. |

No need to go in – just watch the cosplayers as they go in. |

John, you know my rule. If you can get to the table, you get to play. If I hate you, you get killed off. If the other players hate you, they do it themselves. |

+1 to Mexican Jack Squints rule. |

But, just think for a moment. How many figures would sell in the dealers room with 130,000 customers and how many tables it would take to fill 800,000 sq feet of convention center for 4 days. |

Described by Rolling Stone magazine as the "Super Bowl of people who don't like watching the Super Bowl," Not only not particularly clever, but insulting. An over-hyped, over-commercialized mess. If I want spectacle, I go to DragonCon. |

If I go and am old and fat, can I get Emilia Clarke to sit on my lap? |

If I go and am old and fat, can I get Emilia Clarke to sit on my lap? Danaerys is pretty hot, but Margaery is hotter. Ron |

And the cynic in me is thinking: "How many prostitutes, dressed up as Slavegirl Princess Leyia/Danaerys/Hottie of your choice, are going to show up to do business?" |

They may show up, but they won't do much business even if she were dressed as Dejah Thoris, tberry. Have you got any idea how many figures you could buy for that sort of money? And the attendees are close kin to miniatures players. If some girl shows up in a Slavegirl Princess Leyia outfit, a dozen young men will surround her--to tell her about the inaccuracies in her costume. Thinking of which: why will no one make and sell me a 28mm Princess Leyia with pintel-mount gun? |

I've been to a local Comic-con (Ottawa) and have had friends at the Toronto one, and they're pretty harmless. Lots of crowd-watching, some fun purchases, and here at least they do a good job of giving the kids stuff to do. I took my 5yo nephew in his Jedi Knight costume and he got photos with all of the Ottawa Star Wars cosplay crowd (I uh, may have gotten into a picture or two too) and built his own mini lightsaber etc. Winston, if you top up the photo fee, you might get her in your lap. But probably not. But I don't think gaming conventions need to aim for that level, sometimes it's ok to be the RC Cola of the world. link |

I went to WonderCon many times when it existed; it was sort of Comic-Con for northern California. It was always a good time, and a much bigger show than any of the local game conventions, but nothing like the scale of Comic-Con. |

I am gob smacked by how many attractive women are willing to put on costumes and attend this thing, particularly when msot of the guys are like the Big Bang crew. |

"Thinking of which: why will no one make and sell me a 28mm Princess Leyia with pintel-mount gun?" I'm not a prolific figure sculptor, but I'll add that to my "eventually do" list… ;-)

Me and my family are going to Star Wars Celebration next year at $150 USD a ticket. Very excited. I'm thinking of dressing as an old, over weight Jedi, like Luke . :-) |

If I go and am old and fat, can I get Emilia Clarke to sit on my lap? Winston, if you are old and fat, do you have a lap? But speaking of 130K attendees, the registration/badge pick-up line would stretch from Fredericksburg to Quantico. And how many days to get through? |

I thought the Comic Books were all about promoting the Movies and TV shows now anyway… No, tv shows and movies are all about exploiting a customer base who has demonstrated their commitment to buy a title year after year after year and not give up on it when it turns crappy in hope it will rebound the way they want. |

And the cynic in me is thinking: "How many prostitutes, dressed up as Slavegirl Princess Leyia/Danaerys/Hottie of your choice, are going to show up to do business?" Tanya Tate's been known to show up. But be fair, where else would give you this?
