Li Feng, "Landscape and Power in Early China: The Crisis and Fall of the Western Zhou 1045-771 BC". I was not impressed with Ralph D Sawyer's "Conquest and Domination in Early China: Rise and Demise of the Western Chou" – much less useful than his earlier works on the Chinese military manuals, etc. H G Creel's "Origins of Statecraft in China: The Western Chou Empire" (1970) is still useful. A bit more specialised: Hsiao-yun Wu, "Chariots in Early China: Origins, Cultural Interaction, and Identity". R T Kolb, "Die Infanterie im Alten China. Ein Beitrag zur Militärgeschichte der Vor-Zhan-Guo-Zeit" |
