As per question, looking at building a 1:300 force for an NVA Panzer Regt, which I know used T55 – but there seems to be a bewildering number of possible T55 versions, many of which look decidedly different – even in 6mm scale! |

Hi All, I'm pleading for your help in getting the backers of the KS Battle of Britain a free Bristol Blenheim by going to Board game Geek and becoming a Fan this won't cost a thing it will just get us another plane to play. I hope you don't think I'm being too cheeky but I really want that plane, so thanks for your support. Oh to become a Fan just click on the little heart icon which will then turn red 😍 TMP link boardgame/ 204003/battle-Britain Thanks again |

Not 100% sure on the tank question, but imagine T-55, and/or T-55A. A little Yahoo or Google searching should confirm that, I suspect. Did a quick pass. A tank gaming site says the East Germans got about 1,800 total, of both, from 1962 – 1970. Don't know if that's accurate, but suspect it may be. I also wouldn't sweat it too much, since a lot of the T-54s and T-55s look very similar to one another, especially in 1/300th scale. |

No no no tank question has hijacked my thread |

Lol – it was my thread first I think! :-) And per the OP – google seems happy to confirm T55, but not whether they were T55A, T55M, T55AM, T55MV etc etc. |

Oh, and yes, I'm a BoB fan! |

Clearly, both have been hijacked, so play nicely and share. From the way I understand it, many T-55s were upgraded to T-55A over time, or were produced as the latter variant, since it appears if the info is correct, that they received their tanks during a span of 8 years, from 1962 – 1970. Wish I could afford the BoB stuff. Will just have to stick to 1/300th and 1/600th I currently have, for now. |

I dont think any of the M models, so just T-55A would be my guess. I remember reading here a member whose father was an NVA commander, said something like they finishing converting from T-54 in mid 80s |

No idea how many NVA T-55's got the AM upgrade, but a few of the should have. I know that the T-55AM in a swedish museum (sawed up version for training) was from Germany. Some bits and pieces on wikipedia as well, including a picture from the Münster tankmuseum.
