This site is a combination toy soldier and O / O27 rialroading blog. It has some great sci-fi articles that were posted between the end of December 2015 and the beginning of February 2016. Also, some reviews of sci-fi figures. There was even info and US Army and Air Force plans for Moon bases that were drawn up in 1959. Other topics such as subterranean warfare, sci fi weapons and such were among sci-fi subjects discussed Here's the link: thortrains.blogspot.com This site is the blog for a well-known toy soldier site, The Army Men Homepage at thortrains.net/armymen As new things come in, the blofg wil lcover more sci-fi and other topics |

We had a children's book back then called "You Will Go To The Moon" that had some of the same ideas. This was about ten years before the actual Lunar landing. I really enjoyed reading the Project Horizon PDFs because they were a blast from the past. It should be easy to make models of those bases for space gaming. The perfect retro-Astronauts for it are the old MPC spacemen in Mercury-style space suits. Scroll up just a bit from the Space 1959 article and under the heading The Astronauts are some orange MPC space men. |
