If you were to be stranded on a desert island that just happened to have a nice gaming table and the miniatures of your choice and a great player to play against, but you could only choose one set of rules and figures to play with during your isolation, what rules would they be?

In other words, which is the one rule set you favor above all others?

Disposable Heroes for WWII combat with the Germans and Americans for troops. Easy-pleasy.

I suspect a more important question is who am I playing against in my eternity in exile?

TSATF American Revolution, with the caveat that I have enough figures for every possible unit.

If my great player of choice is a beautiful woman who is also into me, I'm afraid we wouldn't be doing much gaming… ;-)

TSATF – with figures to do a whole lot of variants.

QILS – nothing like a lot of time on your hands to match up a couple billion combinations of unit stats against each other.

At first I assumed you were asking what rules could be used for games set on a desert islands.

To answer your actual question about what set I favour above all others, the Song of Blades and Heroes family. It's very flexible.

Taking the desert island scenario literally, I expect that given figures and time you'd come up with and memorise your own rules.

Hail Caesar – the best set of Ancients rules that I have ever played, in 36 years of Ancients wargaming.
