Got a lot, but my best finds include the following. From a guy in the dealer hall, a fully assembled true 15mm Pegasus Bridge, as well as a ton of 6th AB figures and numerous Horsa gliders and a Hamilcar to go with it. One of my most sought after items recently and I was extremely pleased to purchase it. From the same dealer got a unit of 10 beautifully painted 1944 Panthers. Also from BTC some fantastic hyper detailed 28mm palm trees. From the flea market, a beautifully painted Bolt Action US Marine Corps force complete with a customized and nicely detailed Sherman flame tank. This is what I needed those palm trees from BTC for. Also found some great Japanese bunkers for them to wipe out. And a ton of very nice Western European terrain for my quickly growing 15mm Normandy collection. Was also pleased to purchase a collection of over 60 very well painted British tanks for Western Europe. Oh, and a half dozen hand made smoke markers from the young girl selling cookies! They were fantastic!! The fact this wonderful young girl made them aside, they are fantastic. Worth every penny she was asking, $1. USD Needless to say she sold out quickly. The light quality in my pics isn't perfect, but you get the idea! Lots of other great buys this weekend too, but these were some of the highlights.

I went looking for terrain as I have mounds of unpainted lead and have been in a painting slump. I bought Rivers, walls, a bridge from BTC, a couple of 28mm Napoleonic bldgs from Brigade Games, some green stuff from Battlefront, some hedge rows from the Wally's Basement flea market, some nice reasonably priced 25/28mm Napoleonics from Hobby Bunker ($1.25 per 28mm painted infantry and $3 USD per 25mm painted cav) and in the luckiest timing purchase, 130 painted 15mm minfig Austrians for $11. USD They were on sticks with about 20 figs a stick for $10 USD a stick. I stopped and was contemplating them and the seller said "$10 for the whole lot" I said "sold!" gave him a 20, and he was struggling to find the last dollar change. I said let's make it $11. USD Thank you whoever you are for selling me those. It must have been near the end of his table time and I assuming people weren't looking at them. At 50 cents each they were a good deal, but I would only have bought a stick or two at that point, being low on cash. |

Stopped by Dayton Painting Consortium. Been looking at the SYW 25mm RSM95s as I remember them when the were sold at the old Rusty Scabbard in Lexington. Finally decide to take the leap from 15mm to 25s. Eyes are not what they used to be. Picked up a bag each of Prussian Musketeers marching, Prussian Artillery, Austrian Musketeers Marching and Austrian Artillery. I have always liked the figs and the price of $29 USD for a bag of 36 figs is a big bonus for me. Time to get painting and then fill out the mix by ordering some cavalry and single figures. |

I scored some great additions to my 20mm collections; Six Western Theater Confederate flags from Rick at Flag Dude, he makes THE best flags IMO. Some trees, redoubts, terrain mats and a great one off rock formation piece from Doug at BTC, awesome stuff. The new Master of the World 1812 campaign scenario booklet from The Wargaming Company; terrific scenario maps, plus the uniform guide in the back is outstanding. Looking forward to the 1813 campaign scenario booklet due out in the Fall, hoping by Fall In? A set of Wellingtons staff/generals and Ney's staff from Waterloo Miniatures from Gary at Warstore Collectibles; the Ney's staff is especially spectacular, based on the Waterloo panorama panel showing him and his staff leading the French cavalry charge. The beauty of this show; I get to spend money AND make money, the best of both worlds……….. |

Rules By Brom from Sergeants 3. A bunch of 10mm buildings (and some haystacks) from BTC. A bunch of tanks from Old Glory. A bunch of vehicles from the Flames of War guys. Dux Bellorum (can't remember which booth), 'cause I really like Lion Rampant and Dragon Rampant. The Taiping MAA from the guy with all the old Ospreys. The Colonial Campaigns Ethiopia book from Brigade. The Flint and Feather Beta test rules from Crucible Crush. A few things in the flea market. I think that's it. |

The best thing about Historicon 2016 is the Gargoyle! In a $0.25 USD bin someone had a Heroquest Gargoyle that I have been hunting for years to find. Score! Other than that, I got a Borg Cube, an entire 15mm Middle Eastern town, 20 or so cowboy figures, lots of Martian Front extras, and some Frog Cavalry. My kids came away with some amazing 1:1200 battle ships (WWII era) and free loot like no one's business. |

Well… after I sold a bunch of stuff…. I quickly ran off to the vendor hall to spend my fairly won gains before my wife got into it!!! I brought the family this time around…. needless to say.. I came home in the red…. This year's big purchases all went to By Fire & Sword… I am very interested in this era and being a Am-Pol, I thought why not!!!! I picked up the rules and a variety of troops. I did buy a few things in the flea market too….mostly stuff that I didn't need, but the prices… OMG!!! The prices….. so I walked out with a LOT of new FoW blisters and box sets….. all probably for what the one box set would have cost new….. I had a great time and got to meet dome of the TMPer's.. definitely worth the trip for me! |
