Here are some Squat Warriors that I recently finished up. I've been on a bit of a nostalgia kick recently and have been having a fun time with them.
There's more pictures of my test figures and other 6mm stuff on my blog. - Jeff squadpainter.blogspot.com |

Wow! Legion 4 is right -- those look exactly like the ones from the box top! Nice work, SP! |

Nicely done! And I like the old style square bases. |

Looks great! Just a suggestion, I think you should pop a dash of highlight to the bottom/foreward part of the infantry's visors. IMO, it'd really set them off. |

Far to many steps. I would have just kept them on the sprue and got the can of red spray paint out and sprayed them… Red Then would have painted the parts that I didn't want Red to the color that I wanted. Then once I got that done would have taken them off of the sprue and mounted them on to the bases. Then finish off painting boots, gun and helmet then hit then with a wash. Paint and finish the base. Painted companies of Eldar, Dark Angels and a Company of Blood Angels that way. Very fast Though with Squats and Imperial Guard you have faces to deal with. Though very nice job with them. Squats are not dead even though GW say they are. |

The Beast Rampant - That's not a bad idea. Right now they have a dash of #2 pencil on the visors and it catches the light nicely. I'll have to put a little gray line down there and see how it looks on my next batch. - Jeff squadpainter.blogspot.com |

Mithmee - You are right, color priming would have saved some time. Unfortunately, these were rescued and revived models. Each was given a bath in purple Super Clean to strip the old paint off. Priming them on the old bases would have meant missing some areas with the color and then having to come back in and match it. Also, although I like washes, my test figures showed me that the washing dulled the figures and didn't contrast enough for me. The black undercoat gave them a nicer look. Here is a quick picture from my blog showing what I mean:
From left to right: primed white and washed to show detail, black undercoat with extra highlights, black undercoat with single colors and only red highlighted, white primed, white primed with base colors and a wash. But, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I thought that the extra effort made them look nicer. Thanks for commenting! - Jeff squadpainter.blogspot.com |

I mount all my 6mm on old paint bottles with Sticky Tac. Then finally mount on bases when all is done. It's easier to get to all nocks & crannies … |

Legion 4 - That's a good way to do it. I prefer to individually mount my figures as well. But since these were salvaged miniatures, they were already glued into their bases and wouldn't pop out without a lot of effort. So I had to paint them as they were. I enjoy reviving old, trashed miniatures. - Jeff squadpainter.blogspot.com |

I've done the same many times too … All minis deserve some TLC ! |

Legion 4 - Amen! Restoring miniatures is good for the soul. Ha ha! - Jeff |
