By the mid to late war period did colonial militia officers wear uniforms? I know there is no 100% correct answer. For example a blue coat with red facings. Thanks, Jim |

There would be no prescribed official militia uniform. Certainly not a "uniform" blue faced red uniform. If they wore a uniform, it would be if there militia unit wore one. Doubtful. But in the early war, there were a few uniformed militia units. Late in the war, many Southern militia had a high number of discharged Continental veterans in their ranks. It's possible that such officers would wear their old uniforms, if they ever had any to begin with. Mostly, militia officers would wear good civilian clothes, possibly with some arbitrary rank insignia. |

" if there militia unit wore one" Good Lord, Winston. Sister Grace just fainted. "wear their old uniforms" Much better! |

It is the autocorrect acting up again. It has nothing to do with Winston's command of spelling. |
