So, should the mid-Cold War Danes get Jeeps or Landrovers for their TOW missile mounts – 1970s and 1980s?

Also, any opinions on which Centurions to field, e.g. 20 Pdr. models, or 105mm ones?

I know the 20 Pdrs. were available first, but not sure how long they served until the 105mms replaced them?

I'm interested in the whole Cold War period, from the 1950s – 1989.

No idea on Centurion gun dates, but Landies for the TOW – they bought a bunch of the "airborne" variant (short wheelbase, no roof) in the late '70s.

Prior to that they used the M151A1, but only a couple of dozen.

Looks like 105s from 1964 for the Centurions, although the ones with the "type B" 20-pounder stayed with that, only the "type A" ones getting the L7 upgrade – you definitely want to bookmark this site…. ;-)

Found this on the website that Dom gave a link to;
In 1964 106 tanks with the "A-gun" was modified with the British 105 mm L7A1 gun and the 7.62 cal. Browning was replaced by the German MG 62 (Mk V, 2).

To complicate things, Denmark had about twice the amount of centurions in their inventory, meaning some would have remained with 84mm guns. No idea as to when these were replaced by leos.

Looks like the 20 pounder Centurions lasted until the end of the Cold War – the Jutland Brigades got the Leopards, the Zealand Brigades got the 105mm Centurions, and the various "battle group" formations got the old 20 pounders.

Thanks for the info.

Ran across some info stating the 20 Pdr. for 1953+, and as mentioned, about half were upgraded to the 105mms from 1964, so looks like both would work, which is nice from a game play standpoint. The older variants don't go to waste.

IIRC, I think some units still had the Centurions, while Leopards were fielded in the others.

Yeah, by 1989 they had 120 Leopards – enough for the Jutland brigades (3 brigades each with 20 in the tank battalion and 10 each in the 2 mech battalions) but not the Zealand brigades or second echelon formations.
