The past few weeks have been all El Cid painting updates, but this last week I took a break from that to work on the Spanish Civil War collection. Before I moved to Wisconsin I picked up some more troops from Northstar and this week managed to get done: Ernest Hemmingway
Two Anarchists
Ten International Brigade

Wow! Nicely done. And now I am curious about the era and what the background is for this setting. |

Thank you. It's for my burgeoning Spanish Civil War collection. |

Hi Kallman You can get a nice overview of the period by reading Osprey Essential History ESS 37 the Spanish Civil War. link A simple and highly playable game Arriba Espana is available in World at War magazine #8 which also features a magazine article on the war. link This is a highly playable game that avoids much of the confusing political background. Crusade and Revolution from Compass Games link does go into politics. For miniature gaming, Bayonet and Ideology from Peter Pig is popular. peterpig.co.uk/rules.html I"m impressed with Iron Ivans Disposable Heroes Point Blank basic rule with Primera Batalla expansion and the Atacar es Vencer scenario book. All three of these are from Brigade Games. link I've read good AARs for games using Too Fat Lardies Chain of Command with the SCW suppliment available on Lard Island. link link |
