Looks neatly painted, with a nice touch of ivy. You inquired which building to do next, so La Haye Sainte would be my recommendation. You requested tips to improve. The 69th looks good, and it will look great on the gaming table. Move the King's Colour to the right of the Regimental Colour. The placement of the King's Colours is to the right unless one of the few regiments that fielded Kings' on the left. Another tip is to use a thinned wash of black/brown and dirty up the building, paying particular attention to the bottom portion where mud and dirt would cause the building to be more weathered, and other areas where rain and dirt would cause streaks and stains. Depends upon the look you're after, and personal taste, and if all your miniatures will be parade ground fresh, the building will fit right in as it is. If you do decide to weather, go lightly at first and see how you like it. A little weathering can go a long way, so don't overdo it. |

Leo, here's an example. Notice the light staining around the windows of the inner courtyard buildings, and other light weathering.
These are a selection of buildings from Hovel's Pappelotte set. 25mm. |

@Condotta, Thanks for the advice i greatly appreciate it! I do love the weathered look & those buildings look awesome. I tried using this weathered look with washes on the regiment i'm doing atm (105th french line). I overdid it but in the future i will definitely keep going with the weathered look. However as you might see when i post my 105th when then are done, i'm struggling with white. I had no idea the king's colors were on the right of the regimental colors, thanks for pointing that out. Regarding La Haye Sainte, i do like the building, but it's huge. I would feel more comfortable doing something a bit more smaller before we tackle the big boys:) |

Funny thing is that footprint of LHS almost the same as Hgmnt main enclosure's area. The latter, of course, had a huge walled garden also and was far better concealed behind the wood to its south. The Ensign's thing is often mentioned, but can cause upsets……not everyone appreciates the info.. The King's colour is to the right of the line (it looks like the current Union Flag), the regt colour to its left (generally in facing colour, with Union flag top and nearest the staff pole)….unless Guards of course…Oh forget that! Let's also agree grenadiers co to right, light bobs to left. Let's put spongeman to right of gun in any artillery of any nation…and loader to left. OK the lad who actually fires the thing depends on………50% chance folk will place their gunners correctly, given random chance….and yet…… |

Good points, deadhead. Leo, I look forward to viewing your 105th. If La Haye Sainte is too large, don't think of the whole set, but just paint one building at a time. As I did with the Papelotte set, you can separate the buildings and use them individually, or once you have them all painted, as the set. If you don't mind not using MDF/Sarissa type buildings, check Hovels catalog for some smaller buildings. You can order them one at a time and do not have to order a complete set. |

@Condotta I do like the possibility of ordering them in different parts, i just checked the Hovels site and i'm tempted to order the farmhouse from them. Prices seem very reasonable as well. |
