"Here's a fantastic video of the Polish Army's equipment (taken sometime pre-September 1939) showing lots of great shots of things like Bofors 37mm AT & 40mm AA Guns, both types of tanks (the Vickers and the 7TP), Armoured Cars, Infantry & HMG teams, various motorcycles, trucks, half-tracks and fully-tracked tractors (e.g. C2P / C4P / C7P), Skoda 220mm Heavy Howitzers and an Armoured Train!…" Main page link Amicalement Armand |

Excellent! Several thoughts came to mind as I watched it. First it appears as if they were thinking in terms of the WWI trench type warfare. Second that tanks in the same unit although camouflaged in similar/same colors did not sport the same pattern. Terry |

First it appears as if they were thinking in terms of the WWI trench type warfare. Hmm. Not at all the thought that came to my mind. I saw lots of emphasis on mobile forces. Tanks, armored cars, motorized infantry, self-propelled and towed AA, towed artillery, motorized signals units, all moving over roads and rough terrain, and advancing through field obstacles, with artillery and air support. Looked to me like an effort to demonstrate a very modern mobile warfare capability through a well organized propaganda production. Pretty impressive, actually. I imagine I would have been quite impressed if I had seen that in 1939. -Mark (aka: Mk 1) |

Polish Army never conducted trench warfare. War of 1920 was very mobile, with emphasis on maneuver. These 11 cavalry and two motorized brigades were intended to be mobile force in future war also. |

Excellent! The Polish campaign is too neglected and this shows some good reasons for gaming it. |

The Poles were surrounded by potential enemies and not enough natural defensive terrain to form a coherent, all around defense. Even if such terrain existed not enough forces to adequately man such defenses. They were pretty much forced to develop a mobile force/strategy. |
