The terminology "Motor Torpedo Boat PT-109" seems a bit odd to me. Clearly an indication of Brit-speak clashing with "Yankee-speak".

Americans didn't call these things Motor Torpedo Boats. They were called Patrol Torpedo Boats, or more commonly PT Boats.

To say Motor Torpedo Boat PT-109 seems like saying Dreadnaught Battleship 39, or Medium Tank Cruiser M4.

But I make much out of little. I'll just take the elevator lift down to catch the motorcoach bus home.

Maybe it was lost in translation.
