Hello So, I bought SK a couple years ago and just finally got around to reading them. I remember playing Mein Panzer years ago and thought they seemed pretty good. I don't see a lot talked about them here so I'm wondering if the rules aren't we liked? It's my understanding that SK is of a skirmish game while Mein Panzer is more company or larger. To anyone who has tried them both….are they similar in any way? I don't see much in the way of reviews for Mein Panzer. Did these rules just "die off"? Thanks |

I was hopeing for modern Mein Panzer rules. I guess they are dead, these days… |

Modern as rules update? Didn't they change them back in 07' or 08"? The infantry rules were pretty light so I guess that facilitated the rules update. |

Mein Panzer is a complete rule system covering company level combined arms warfare from World War I through the present day. from link |

I agree with Dragon6, they cover modern at least until about 2000. As for comparison, I've played both and like both. SK is for about a company max, my opinion. There are a lot of options and rolls for individual vehicles and when you get beyond 20-30 units it can bog down. It doesn't bog because it's confusing, just units can do different things so there's a lot of activity. I do like the detail of it though, definitely feels like Squad Leader. SK was supported on Ritterkrieg's own forum then moved to yahoo, I think it's on something else now. Mein Panzer has platoons activating but each element of the unit can do some different stuff. The detail level goes down but it's not to a point where a Sherman=tiger. It has a "module" style of rules so you can read and add in the ones you want instead of having to read all the rules available. Ex. if you're not using engineers then don't read that part. There is a Mein Truppen set that adds more on the infantry end (I haven't played that yet) and I think it's a free download? Overall I like both and keep both as my main 6mm rulesets. SK for smaller actions, MP for larger combined arms. Neither set seems to get much net chatter. |
