Taken from: link Short update today, but this time with a video! I took out all the painted Dwarves I have on my shelves and the current muster is at 453. Its just been a lil over a year since I began my retro delving into Oldhammer goodness and I still feel like there is just so much more to do and stunties yet to purchase and paint. Gotta catch em all!
And here is the video. YouTube link Which could be a lot better, I admit. But the music is inspiring! The Dwarven Empire will reach the limits of glory. I do need to find a Dwarven Napoleon figure, I think I remember seeing one sometime ago. In the next post I will show off all the enemies of our stuntie heroes… the Axis of Evil! Orcs, Undead and Dark Elves. |

Egad! I recognise quite a few of those bearded fellows. Some beasties in among their legions, I see… assuming you are using a very early edition? Fine work indeed! Have you tried fielding the lot in an action yet? |

Fantastic. At last a fantasy army that looks like a real army. Looks like a lot of love has go into its creation. |

MacrossMartin, As my retro army grew, my rules systems progressed from Song Of Blades, to Lord Of The Rings SBG, to Lion/Dragon Rampant, to Warhammer FIRST Edition. My blog is full of battles with said rules, but not with all 400+ Dwarves. Ive just recently moved up to Warhammer 7th edition with Ravening Hordes for the upcoming mass battles. But am now wondering if I should just use Hail Caesar / Black Powder instead. ~~~~~
IanKHemm,
Thanks and yes, much blood and sweat has gone into gearing up the armies of Dwarven-kind. You make a very astute observation, I am planning for my fantasy wargames to emulate the epic look of historical wargames. Its in my notes… Make the upcoming 2nd Battle of Dimrill Dale (Azanulbizar) look and feel like Borodino/Waterloo/Gettysburg etc… |

Ye gads! And I thought I had a lot of Dwarves! That is a great looking army – would not want to face those bad boys on the battle field! Orks beware |

Very nice collection you have there! Regarding what rules set to use- if you're looking for more personality in your game then stick with Warhammer. There is a fantasy supplement for Hail Caesar you could use to help set up your armies if you choose to go that route, but I think it would play a little too fast and lack the personality that using Warhammer would bring. It'd be a shame to quick-play the game after all the work you've put into gathering the collection, nevermind the set-up and breakdown of the game itself. Just my thoughts… |
