Were the US Marine vehicles painted in MERDC in the mid 80s? If not what colour should they be.

While asking what about uniform was it same pattern as Army? Or at least near enough not to matter in 15mm?

Many thanks in advance.

Yes, MERDEC prior to the 1st Gulf War.

Vehicles from Camp Pendleton (1st MarDiv) and Camp LeJeune (2nd MarDiv) used the brown/green called "Winter Verdant."

Vehicles from 29 Palms used "Grey Desert."

Vehicles from Okinawa (3rd MarDiv) used "Tropical Verdant."

Uniforms were the same "woodland cammies" as the Army, with slight differences. (Different cover/hat, USMC insignia stenciled on the left breast pocket, different rank insignia, no name-tapes.)

Thank you.

Happy to help. I joined in '87, if that helps, time-wise.

In the early 80s they wore "ERDL" cammies; they were similar to "woodlands," but with a slightly different cut and a more greenish hue to the camouflage. If you're doing early 80s you might see this, especially for a salty NCO-type.

In 15mm anyone who can tell the difference is spending waaaay too much looking at the toys and not playing the game.

So can use same for both Army and Marines just need extra troops for different TOE.
