Well, it is that time of year again…. Hcon is days away… which means….. Fall-In! event registration is open… well, has been…. I need to advertise better.

I want to say… wow…. games are already coming in.

This year the show is again, currently slated for the Host in Lancaster PA. The dates are as follows: November 4th-6th.

The Theme is Poland through the Ages….

I am, of course.. always looking for gifted speakers… they are in such short availability now a days!

Event/Games to be counted as "Theme" games will need to involve Poland in some way…. usually it is nations fighting on the battleground which was Poland for so many years….

I am looking forward to another great show…..

I am also in the market for a good tee-shirt design…. AND… as much as I love Polish Lancers…. that was done back in Timonium a few years ago….

I am hoping Toys-4-Tots will be back this year too! Santa Moe is always a hit and their auctions and prizes are always great too!

Brian9811 Jul 2016 11:57 a.m. PST

Hoping for you to hit 2,000 attendees this year. Maybe the weather will cooperate this time. Good luck and see you on Thursday.

Always soooo close…. Thank you all who make it happen… I am just a servant.

Duncan Adams11 Jul 2016 12:35 p.m. PST

Dan,

When is the PEL deadline for events registration?

Don't let Timonium stop you if it's your best bet otherwise. I think we'd all prefer to think that particular convention never happened. That said:
Napoleonic Polish Guard Lancers?
T-34's with big plywood Polish white eagles?
A trumpeter of Krakow?
Any Russo-Polish War uniform with a czapska?
Just a Polish crimson shirt with the white eagle?

(Don't try for an outline of Poland, unless you make a T-shirt which is different in different lights. You'd need at least three.)

Just remember: someone has to relive Vienna, and there has to be a Market-Garden game. All those Poles in Italy--in the 1790's and again in the 1940's--are somehow expendable by comparison.

Hafen von Schlockenberg11 Jul 2016 1:22 p.m. PST

T-shirt--design,for me,is not as important as material; all-cotton,or I have to pass it up.

capncarp11 Jul 2016 1:48 p.m. PST

How about a sign: "You are now leaving Poland: please wipe your feet before entering Germany, Russia, or Hungary".
Just kidding.
If you are looking for an impressive statue of a hussar to base a t-shirt image upon, there is a huge iron (I think) statue of a hussar kneeling with his hands on the hilt of his sword at the Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa near Doylestown, PA.

It stands watch over the Polish veterans interred on the graveyard below. My uncle Lou, who was a plutovny in the Polish Army, survived the blitzkrieg and German captivity, and his wife are buried there.

I'll bring the city again for Friday night if you are up for it.

Moe from Toys for Tots will be there, I'm sure. I'm painting up some stuff he gave me for the auction!

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP12 Jul 2016 4:12 a.m. PST

How does the donation end of Toys for Tots work? Do they need to be contacted in advance?

zoneofcontrol12 Jul 2016 7:26 a.m. PST

Here is a link to an thread posted by "Santa Moe" from April of 2016 regarding Toys For Tots:

TMP link

It contains some request info and contact info. They will take and make good use of most anything they are given to work with.

Poniatowski12 Jul 2016 11:51 a.m. PST

Wow.. that is a very cool statue! I wonder if I could get that legally done on a silhouette???

Yes.. cotton…. slightly blended, usually Gildan.. their shirts have treated me well over the years.

Duncan.. the soft dates should be available on the Fall-IN! web site, I don't have them with me at work.

I am hoping for a very good show. I always say I would like to do something different, if practical….

I know lots of folks down the Host, but I have my suspicions that you will all be pleasantly surprised when Fall-In! rolls around.

Soup and sandwiches will be there again too!

dan

Poniatowski12 Jul 2016 12:10 p.m. PST

Snurl….. yes, I will be bringing my stuff if you bring your board to Fall-IN! this year!

TSD10112 Jul 2016 12:15 p.m. PST

I want to run some Lion Rampart sessions at Fall In but I can't even think about it until after Historicon.

WaltOHara12 Jul 2016 2:38 p.m. PST

This will be at the Host, yes?

historygamer12 Jul 2016 8:47 p.m. PST

So I am trying to figure out what that spike is coming out of his… errrr, back end?

Stepman312 Jul 2016 9:13 p.m. PST

I wanna get in on some "Lion Rampant"…

Maybe the Tee Shirt should have a picture of submarine with screen doors on it showcasing the great Polish Navy…

Moe the Great13 Jul 2016 11:28 a.m. PST

Christmas has not been canceled this year…

So there will be children in need of toys and we will do everything we can to make sure they get them.

We will have a great bunch of figures for this years auction and hopefully great raffle donations for both Friday and Saturday.

If all goes as planned we should be in front of the Distelfink room again.

Yes, PLEASE support T-4-T as you guys and gals do every year… it is awesome, run by awesome folks and for an awesome cause!

Well… you should start seeing more updates on the Fall-In! 2016 web site…. I finally got emails out to all of my senior staffers and some others who contribute heavily…

The dates are set, as long as we can stay on track…. events and vend reg is open….

Now to concentrate on making sure the Host stays viable. If all goes well, there will be soups and sandwiches like they had at CW 2016.. comfort food…. and the soups and sammies were good!!!

I am always looking for more volunteers to enter the ranks, please inquire at the web site….

I want to say thanks again for all of your support. I went to Hcon this year and I had a great time! I got to see many friends old and made a few new. I actualy got to play games and immerse myself while my wife and kids ran amuck spending my money!

If it wasn't for all of you…. we wouldn't have what we do. Thank you guys!

clanboru26 Jul 2016 7:32 p.m. PST

How about a shirt depicting the brave Polish Resistance during the Warsaw Uprising in 1944.

Moe the Great27 Jul 2016 8:26 a.m. PST

Dan,

We couldn't do it without you.. Woohoo!

Santa Moe.

Poniatowski29 Jul 2016 2:24 a.m. PST

I have gamed that for FoW.. interesting, fun and hard to do.

I am open to the suggestions, so thank you!

Dervel Fezian29 Jul 2016 5:36 a.m. PST

Working on some Polish themed events, and I vote for a Winged Hussar Shirt…!

shthar29 Jul 2016 11:11 p.m. PST

Have you ever realised that the Prussians, are just a bunch of poles?

47Ronin30 Jul 2016 11:45 a.m. PST

I'm working on a couple of theme games, Dan.

Given Fall In's success last year, especially when compared to the other two cons, you can afford to take some chances this year. I suggest the following:

Friday Night Flea Market (move the time to 7pm--10pm);
All Star Room to showcase games by award winning GMs.

I'd also like to see the Voucher/"HMGS bucks" program extended to the GMs. One voucher per GM for each day (not game) that they run. $7 USD bucks per GM (about the cost of two painted figures) is not much for a con that made $18 USDk last year.

Also, since the Host is under renovation, this may be the last Fall In at the Host for a while. Time to pull out all the stops.

Good luck.

Bowman30 Jul 2016 4:21 p.m. PST

Have you ever realised that the Prussians, are just a bunch of poles?

Nice try.

Clays Russians02 Aug 2016 10:56 a.m. PST

Careful bowman youz gonna get doghawsed

Poniatowski05 Aug 2016 11:30 a.m. PST

If I do a winger Hussar shirt, it will probably be a silhouette… or perhaps full color..

I am trying to confirm a lot of things for the show.

I have some new folks on board in key positions and I have been dropping the ball dreadfully with their training. I will make this up, do not worry.

I am really hoping for some renaissance games for eastern Europe…. By Fire and Sword hopefully.

47Ronin, I think you might be right…. I might try something different this year. I really need to get that vendor hall filled. I will be working with my vendor hall coordinator and event manager to get demo games in there to at least fill up some of the wasted space!!!

Hi, Dan,

Any version of a winged Hussar would be very cool.

Quick question -- do we have room blocks at any other Lancaster motels? I spoke to a young woman at the Host a couple days ago who said that they were sold out for Fall In. Just checking. I know your plate is over-full at this point.

Many thanks!
Scott

Bowman06 Aug 2016 9:15 a.m. PST

Any version of a winged Hussar would be very cool.

I agree. Who doesn't like Winged Hussars? (Maybe those that had to fight against them).

TheKing3006 Aug 2016 9:33 a.m. PST

Third for the Winged Hussars

Disco Joe06 Aug 2016 12:27 p.m. PST

Dan, make the shirt full color. Not a fan of silhouette.

historygamer08 Aug 2016 9:24 a.m. PST

The Host is completely sold out for FI. I wonder how many rooms they were putting up for reservations?

Ligniere Sponsoring Member of TMP08 Aug 2016 9:27 a.m. PST

I wonder how many rooms they were putting up for reservations?

Good question – certainly not 319……

Poniatowski08 Aug 2016 12:38 p.m. PST

OK, I will get both quoted.. I just need to find a good color image.. I would love an Angus McBride one…. don't know if I could afford it. He was my favorite artist.

Also, concerning rooms…. very good question, at the moment we do not, but I am thinking we really need to start looking into this like they do for Hcon.

Disco Joe08 Aug 2016 12:58 p.m. PST

An Angus McBride one would be fantastic Dan.

historygamer08 Aug 2016 8:14 p.m. PST

So what the "bleep" is wrong with the HMGS YM site and why won't it let me register my game? I cut and pasted the game description in and it doesn't seem to recognize there is text in the box as it says 500 of 500 characters (I am under the 500 count). That is unless I delete the first word and retype it in the box then it recognized there is text in there.

I have tried repeatedly submitting my game but keep getting "An error has occurred" message, but it gives no hint what that error is. I am using Google Chrome.

Help?

historygamer09 Aug 2016 7:28 a.m. PST

Never mind. I finally got it to work. Not sure why it would not work last night, but would this morning as I did nothing different.

Moe the Great09 Aug 2016 10:57 a.m. PST

****This Just In*****

This year's T4T Swag will be a Turn Counter with the Toys for Tots logo. Once again provided by our good Friend Walt at Impudent Mortal Terrain.

I'll post a picture when we get the test sample completed.

We will of course also have the T4T dice.

So how do GMs' register for a flea market table since we are already registered?

Ancient Otter09 Aug 2016 4:10 p.m. PST

Can Moe The Great contact me please? I had been in contact with him in June about a purchase but we seemed to have lost contact. Thanks!

Moe the Great09 Aug 2016 6:06 p.m. PST

Otter, what's your email address?

Ancient Otter10 Aug 2016 12:10 p.m. PST

Moe the Great, you can reach me at martin_costello @ hotmail.com. Thanks!

47Ronin10 Aug 2016 2:29 p.m. PST

historygamer,

After the PEL deadline closes, HMGS will enter all the GM badges into the pre-registration system. They usually send GMs an e-mail saying their badge is in the system. After that, GMs can sign up for games and flea market tables once on line registration opens. The schedule should be on the Fall In web page.

Hope that helps.

>>>Maybe the Tee Shirt should have a picture of submarine with screen doors on it showcasing the great Polish Navy…<<<

Gee, haven't heard that one since the school yard in kindergarten.

historygamer11 Aug 2016 5:15 a.m. PST

Thanks 47. :-)

historygamer11 Aug 2016 5:17 a.m. PST

If my WWII stuff were up to snuff I would either do the closing of the Falaise Gap by Polish armored division (on the Mace), or the Polish airborne drop at Arnhem.

capncarp11 Aug 2016 6:30 p.m. PST

How about an Enigma machine with a big red bow on it, and a gift tag that reads, "To: the Allies. From: your friends, the Poles."

rmcaras Supporting Member of TMP11 Aug 2016 9:33 p.m. PST

Don, wow you're way advanced from me! I probably didn't hear that joke until nearly high school! Lol.

47Ronin13 Aug 2016 12:44 p.m. PST

FYI, just over a week left before the deadline to send in games for the Preliminary Events List for Fall In.

Hope to see you there.
