Old Glory | 11 Jul 2016 8:24 a.m. PST |
Here in a few days Old Glory and the crew will be heading out for Historicon -- this will be the 28th year!! 28 years ago I had an idea of a miniature company that made high quality, low priced miniatures, not just in one scale, but in many. I also dreamed of a great amount of variation in each miniature type. We now produce, not only all these miniatures in various scales, we provide buildings, ships terrain boards, etc. In all these years we have maintained one of the largest presence at the HMGS east shows without fail-- seen others come and go. I have been very happy as I walked through the gaming areas through all these years and watched the 1000s upon 1000s of OG figures fight your battles across the table tops. I think -- and hope OG has enabled you to enjoy your hobby just a little more? We have certainly sold enough miniatures in that time it would sure seem it has ? Just wanted to take a personal moment to give a big THANK YOU from me personally to all the really great people and friends who has supported OG through the years. See ya all in a few days -- travel carefully!!! Highest Regards Russ Dunaway |

I knew right away it had nothing to do with Mommouth Courthouse. Except for the figures used of course. |

You're welcome and I'm glad OG does what it does. Outstanding. |

Well, maybe,Russ, but it's really YOU and everyone at OG who deserve the thanks from all gamers everywhere, even from those who don't buy,or claim not to like, OG figures. I've pointed out elsewhere here the changes you made in wargaming. If not for your vision,we might all still be playing with regiments of single-pose figures. And that's just one example. So,thank YOU. BTW,I remember hearing you say you weren't coming to cons anymore. That was about 20-25 years ago. Musta changed your mind, huh? :) Edit: I see I was beaten to it while typing. Not surprising. Bet more Posts follow in this vein. |

I have nothing but praise for the service and quality of Old Glory's staff and miniatures. I hope you have 28 more years of success! |

Yes yes yes… we should thank YOU!!!! I'd also like to thank you for the stuff in the past for supporting our WAB tournaments which I ran for 10 straight years in all the East shows. Thanks! Don PS I hope your post isn't a precursor that you are thinking of ending OG. That would be a disaster for gamers. |

I can still remember walking by a small dealer table at the Penn Harris that had a bunch of zip lock bags on it. Couldn't really see what was in the bags and kept walking for about two feet. Then I heard someone say, "every pose is different", and I turned around and went back. Really glad that I did !! Not only is Old Glory a great company, but you are, and always will be, a great friend. See you on Thursday !! John |

I hope you do enough business to make it worthwhile for you to continue attending. The only time I ever had a problem with Old Glory I brought a bag missing parts to the convention and showed the people at the stand and they mailed me some replacement parts the next week. I was impressed. |

Thanks, Russ, Connie and the crew! It's good to see you going strong after all these years! I remain proud that Attactix was chosen early on to represent the brand in the Colorado area. Also, thanks for all your help and encouragement when we started GFI. Not many othes besides you, JiM McCarron (Musket) and Ed Pugh and the guys at Reaper, always took the time to help us when whenever we had questions about the business or with some technical issue! We will always be in your debt for the friendly spirit and comraderie you all have given. May you have many more happy birthdays and successes with your produuct selections! v/r Tom Dye Ex-GFI and Attactix |

Thanks, Russ, for the many enjoyable hours of painting and gaming with OG miniatures. Based upon the sheer variety and scope, OG is a force in the hobby. Add the personal interest and customer interaction, and you have added immeasurably to our hobby. |

Simply put, OG revolutionized the gaming industry in North America. A tip of the hat to everyone at OG, and a remembrance to Dave A as well for the part he played as well. Thank you all. I'll be fielding my OG (and BM) forces at FI for another round of games. |

Another stanza in the chorus. There are numerous elements of my collection that simply would not exist without Old Glory (and Blue Moon) and even though I may never get them all painted they gave me great joy in finding them, organizing them after buying them and, for those painted, playing with them. So to all the folks behind OG and BM, many thanks. A truly wonderful cornucopia of product – and with more coming along all the time. But perhaps you contemplate some form of retirement? If so, it will be very well deserved – just hope someone steps in to fill your oversized galoshes when that day arrives. Or, the many pairs of galoshes I really should say. |

I think that Russ and Old Glory are singlehandedly responsible for the resurgence of 25mm/28mm figures. When the whole world was dumping 25mm figures and moving to 15mm, I kept gaming with my Minifigs 25mm Napoleonic figures. Then at a Historicon I saw Russ selling boxes of 28mm early war Napoleonic French with separate heads at an incredibly reasonable price. His vision of bags of figures in different poses produces in a Henry Ford style did more for the hobby than most people realize. I still have those early war French in bicornes in my collection and love them. On top of that Russ and Connie are good people, and the company is always friendly and responsive. When starting a new project, I always start with building the bulk of my armies with Old Glory figures. Then I flesh out any missing pieces with figures from other manufacturers. This is my plan in the next couple of years when I start an American Revolution project. Russ was recognized a few years ago by being inducted into the Legion of Honor. That was a well deserved honor! |

Russ & Connie Being someone who only sees or talks to one or both of you a couple times a year I can say without reservation the two of you are truly the finest and friendliest people it's been my pleasure to meet and know in my lifetime! Russ, I often recall, when yourself and Dave Alsop first appeared at one of the conventions (age doesn't allow me to recall exactly which one it was)! Anyway, I sat and talked with you and Dave for nearly an hour about the figures, design, and what you wanted in the figures (mostly I talked with Dave as you were busy selling!)! Yeah, I was "that guy"!!! Afterwards, I bought many zip lock bags of figures! It took me a lot longer to paint them all then I thought it would, but every one of them was worth the wait! Long story – short, THANK YOU Russ and Connie, for providing a lifetime of pleasure to me and the many players through the years who have had the pleasure of putting their mits on my Old Glory collections!! Bless you both in so many ways!!!! |

I met Connie and Russ at my first trade show. They always have been kind and helpful and ambassadors to the hobby. I agree that we should be thanking them for starting Old Glory which in hand has made more companies sprout up because of their success. Keep up the good work! |

Russ and Connie are pioneers in the figure business. They made it possible for many gamers to amass large armies when for some it was out of reach financially. They also pioneered multiple figure poses in one bag. I knew them both (and Dave) from the very beginning and appreciate their creativity, sound business practices and the all around excitement they generated in the hobby over the years. I always found them a pleasure to do business with and am thankful they are part of this hobby of ours…. |

I met the OG staff many years ago when they attended a few of the NOVAG conventions, even though we were MUCH smaller than the HMGS shows. I got the chance to meet many of the staff back then, and every time we meet, it's more like old friends. Keep it up, Russ! |

By far the best miniatures company ever (in my opinion). I have been a customer since the beginning and always go to OG first – excellent service – that is why you are still around after 28 years and will be around many years from now. Other companies could learn a lot from OG. Thanks Russ and the OG family. Very Satisfied customer – Charlie Torok |

Although I've only been a customer for about the past 6 years, I find myself returning to your company again and again. I appreciate the wide range of figures you offer and all of the diverse poses that make an OG army so interesting to display. Your miniatures are more affordable with that OG card, and casting is always first-rate too. Even more, your customer service team sets the industry standard. Each order has been expertly packed and shipped in record time. Connie, Theresa, and all of the rest of our employees are a joy to do business with. I hope you stick around for many years to come. |

Thanks Russ and OG. I have a ton of your miniatures, well not really a ton. Started out with OG and still have them. |

Thanks Russ – OG has and will remain my figures of choice. My current project is 28mm Mexican-American War, some figures I have had for 10+ years. I plan to run a game at the Lone Star Historical Miniatures (LSHM) Muster in San Antonio Texas in July using modified Over the Hills rules. |
