As I have completed the textures for the walls and simple gates modules I thought this is a good time to share a little teaser.

This is the next chapter in the SCB (samurai castle builder) series. The tower is from the first set. In addition to the simple gates there will be a couple of more elaborate versions, like Yaguramon (tower gate).

Paper models are a great and affordable way to build terrain or extend your existing ones.

If you have feedback, do let me know in the comments! Now is the time for changes :-)

Enjoy,
Chris

Looking good!

This does look great, Chris. I've been dreading trying to make a Japanese castle from scratch. Are you planning to scale these for 15mm at all?

Hi Wulfgar,

I have created an optimized version of the tower set. It's basically the same parts just scaled down properly and fitting more on a single page.

I did a test build and it works fine for me.

I wasn't sure if all the parts would be workable at that reduced size but even the small front parts of the roof and ornaments worked.

I have not released this yet. I have only done the outside so far. Not sure how big interior is for this scale. The entrance is also not done yet.

I will do the same for the other sets. If you are interested or have feedback about the needs of 15mm guys let me know.

Wow, Chris! That's a really helpful answer. I apologize for being so slow to reply.

I am very interested in your castle. My table is smallish, just 3'x4.' A castle with an attractive keep and some walls is pretty much what I need. A very approximate size could be anywhere from 8" to 12' square, which would allow for a small siege scenario, or to just be a place marker/scenery for a battle taking place near a castle.

In the case of a siege, being able to fit half a dozen 40mm x 80mm stands in the courtyard would be sufficient for my own needs.

The doorways don't really need to match the same scale as the figures themselves, as long as it's not wildly out of proportion. On a small table, I have no issue with using 10mm buildings with 15mm castings.

Of course, not all castles looked like Matsumoto or Himeji, so a modest frontier fortification is perfect.

Thank you, Chris, for asking what I'd prefer to see. I'll happily follow your progress, and will be excited to purchase what I can.

That's great info for me Wulfgar. I'll shout when the next set is done :-)
