Got a chance to examine an advance copy of the West German TY "codex" at a local FLGS yesterday. Here's a brief summary:

The Bundeswehr has more varieties than US and USSR, being able to field 3 types of companies: Panzer, Marder Panzergrenadier and armored recon (Panzer Aufklärungs).

The Panzer Kompanie has to field either two zugs of 2 to 3 Leopard 2's each OR one zug of Leopard 2's and one Marder Panzergrenadier zug consisting of 2 to 3 Marders with embarked infantry. You have the option to include two more Leopard 2 zugs and other kompanie support elements, like the Jaguar 1 Jagdpanzer zug, Gepard Flakpanzer Batterie, M109G Artillerie Batterie and the Luchs Spah Trupp.

At a whopping 11 points per tank, the Leopard 2 can be a points-drain so you'll likely be outnumbered if you go tank-heavy, since the minimum for a Panzer Kompanie requires a total of 3 tanks (a zug of 2 plus command tank) in addition to a Marder Panzergrenadier zug.

The Marder Panzergrenadier Kompanie has to field either two zugs of Marder Panzergrenadiers of 2 to 3 Marders OR one zug of Marder Panzergrenadiers and one zug of Leopard 2's. A zug of 3 Marders holds 3 MG3 teams (with Panzerfaust 44's) and 2 Milan teams. If you choose a 2-Marder zug, you have 2 MG3 teams plus one Milan team. Support elements include option for one more Marder Panzergrenadier zug, those listed for the Panzer Kompanie above and also the Jaguar 1 (or Jaguar 2 with the Improved TOW instead of the HOT) Jagdpanzer zug plus the M113 Panzermorser zug.

The Germans get a third type of kompanie that the Americans and Soviets don't have, the Panzer Aufklärungs Kompanie. The armored reconnaissance company must have two 8-Rad Luchs Spah Truppen (2 Luchs per Trupp), with the option for two more. You must also include a Leopard 1 zug of 2 to 3 tanks (the Leopard 1 costs only 3 points each) with the option to include another in the kompanie. Support options include up to two zugs of 6-Rad Fuchs with embarked Panzergrenadieren, which is similar to the Marder Panzergrenadier zugs except that you only get one Milan team whether you include 2 or 3 Fuchs transports in your zug.

Divisional support includes the Lars Raketenwerfer Batterie, Roland Flarakpanzer Batterie and air support in the guise of the Messerschmitt BO-105P flight (2 to 4 helos at 8 pts per gunship) and Tornado strike flight (2 to 4 at 4 pts per strike fighter). You can also include Fliegerfaust Gruppe with Redeye Manpads but you can't bring them unless you have an equal number of either Gepard Flakpanzer Batteries and/or Roland Flak Batteries.

You can see the various force org charts here without the specifics:

Looks like this may be the best TY force yet in both hitting power and sheer number of options.

Lots of new Leopard info was uploaded to the BF/FOW site over the weekend, so definitely worth a look.

A nice two-part battle report, lots of painting guides, etc., etc..

Didn't realize they were going to do the Jaguar 1 and Jaguar 2, so that is nice to see as well. I think I prefer the HOT variant, Jag 1. These really should have 4 in a zug, if you are going for historical accuracy.

Also, the Fuchs wasn't really used much, IIRC, so you can probably replace that with M113s or Marders.

Yes, the Jaguar 1 is better and costs more points accordingly (2 for 4 pts IIRC compared to 2 for 3 pts for the Jag 2). The Luchs are the cheapest at 2 per pt (0.5 pt each).

The American and Soviet lists in the rulebook are "get you going" versions. Expect more diverse entries for both, though Brits are next.

Great news and a really exciting development to the Team Yankee story!

Tempted by the Aufsklarung formation but will stick to the Canadian 4CMBG first…
