Hello All!

I have been out of miniature gaming for a while, and I was interested in getting back into it with the Flames of War ruleset. I was wondering what the current version is. I have seen version 3, but it is back from 2012. Is that the current ruleset? Is the game still supported? Are source books and miniatures still made for the ruleset?

Thank you so much!

The FOW people are still around making and selling miniatures and rules. The miniatures seem to have improved somewhat.
Can't speak for the rules. The level of the whole thing is a little low for me, and the last time I checked they had a bad case of the modern franchise rules problem in which the rules, the scenarios, the theater books and the two army books never all seem to be the same edition. But I'm sure the FOW web site will tell you which rules are most recent.

Version 3 is current. All the "codices" currently published are in line with Version 3. So, no problems.

The game is alive and kicking. Currently the war is roughly covered, and Battlefront is concentrating on Pacific and Yankee (1980ies).

I would be surprised if they abandon the game – there are specific theatres and battles that could be covered in more detail, or camapaigns, SCW or fictive 46.

Yes they gave an update in the Q&A section of the Team Yankee weekend – releasing the Bulge complilation this year, Berlin complilation next year, and lots more plastic models…

One of my personal wargaming talents is buying an expensive rule set just weeks before the new edition comes out (that and rolling 1s and 2s). Any indication that Version 3 is likely to be replaced in the next few months?

No indications, although the reception of Team Yankee, with its streamlined approach, must mean they are thinking about bringing some of that to FOW…But remember what a good deal they gave to people who had version 2 when they brought Version 3 out – they'll look after you!

Battlefront has been really good about free updates to the rulebook. I have the sticker in my V1 hardback "for surviving Mid-War" (and the free mini-rulebook that came with it), as well as a free v3 mini-rulebook. For some reason, they didn't do a sticker for v2-to-v3.

So I'd expect a free mini-rulebook for a hypothetical v4.
