Truly a loss to TMP.

Gunfreak Supporting Member of TMP10 Jul 2016 1:31 a.m. PST

Yes a big loss!

GarrisonMiniatures10 Jul 2016 1:39 a.m. PST

Agreed. What happened?

Winston Smith10 Jul 2016 2:20 a.m. PST

His feelings on how the Forum should be moderated does not coincide with that of Dear Editor.

cfuzwuz10 Jul 2016 2:51 a.m. PST

I'll take his place. DUDE!

cfuzwuz10 Jul 2016 2:52 a.m. PST

Please move this to the Blue Fez!

Rod I Robertson10 Jul 2016 2:55 a.m. PST

We are all the poorer for his absence. I shall miss him here. But Kyote's must run free.
Cheers old man and mow the lawn!
Rod Robertson.

15th Hussar10 Jul 2016 4:27 a.m. PST

Cfuzwuz…why?

There is a discussion ongoing in the Ultramodern forum that many consider to be Blue Fez material, but as per Bill it shall remain and that has offended many members. I have my opinion regarding the decision, but by the same time I've elected to stay aloof from that discussion.

And yet you claim this thread…all nine posts…is Blue Fez material.

Again…why?

14Bore10 Jul 2016 4:32 a.m. PST

You know at first Tango I'm thinking he died.
I could see this coming and figured after a comment or two I needed to stay away from it after typing and deleting

cfuzwuz10 Jul 2016 4:36 a.m. PST

It was a joke. Take it to the Blue Fez was kyote's motto. I said up above I was taking his place. DUDE!

RavenscraftCybernetics10 Jul 2016 4:49 a.m. PST

he is still on facebook.

David Manley10 Jul 2016 4:53 a.m. PST

….and TWW….

vtsaogames10 Jul 2016 5:19 a.m. PST

A tip of the hat to Kyote.
Welcome back if you decide to do so.

Hafen von Schlockenberg10 Jul 2016 6:01 a.m. PST

Gave me a timely caution when I was in danger of inadvertently stepping over a fuzzy line.

Come back, Kyoteblue-- I need your help staying out of the DH!

15th Hussar10 Jul 2016 6:49 a.m. PST

Cfuzwuz…your apology is accepted! wink

By the same time, I've just took myself completely out of the Modern folder. I've better things to do.

PrivateSnafu10 Jul 2016 7:16 a.m. PST

There is no way that discussion was warfare as Bill stated. It was clearly about civilian police action. I do feel it has largely steered clear of politics in spite of it being a discussion of police tactics.

Kevin C10 Jul 2016 8:26 a.m. PST

I just sent Koyote a PM asking him to return to TMP. While he and I may differ politically, he is the closest person, geographically speaking, to me on TMP. His absence will be missed. I hope he reconsiders, and returns as soon as possible.

14Bore10 Jul 2016 9:12 a.m. PST

He really does add a lot here, I hope he comes back

A good bloke who has repeatedly stood up for his views; having read the thread I can understand his motive for leaving.

Winston Smith10 Jul 2016 10:48 a.m. PST

While I do disagree with him on many things, particularly the thread that broke his back, I do consider him a friend and a needed leftie conscience on TMP.

Earl of the North10 Jul 2016 11:13 a.m. PST

I exercised the option to deselect that board a while ago, its a shame he didn't follow a similar route and continued to bang his head against that particular wall.

15th Hussar10 Jul 2016 11:58 a.m. PST

Wise decision Earl John, glad I followed your lead here, even if I rarely commented in the folder itself.

War Panda10 Jul 2016 12:37 p.m. PST

I have to say I got a real fright when I read the title to this thread which left me relieved that Blue has just left TMP!

I know I won't agree with some of his views but they would matter not a jot. He is a kind and generous man, full of heart, witty and wise. The world is a much better place with the likes of Kyotein it so I'm certain TMP is also

Moreover to quote the Blackadder series, "he's got a beard you could hide a badger in"

vtsaogames10 Jul 2016 12:49 p.m. PST

I never found an internet argument to convert my opponent or convince me to change. All they have ever done is raise my blood pressure, which my doc says to avoid. So I de-selected Ultra-modern and try to stay out of any political arguments here. That's why I have in-laws – just spent a week with them.

Winston Smith10 Jul 2016 1:41 p.m. PST

Vince is right. No internet argument ever converted or convinced anybody.
Do why let them upset you?

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian10 Jul 2016 2:02 p.m. PST

Note that Kyote locked his own account, using the "stifle a moderator" method.

Shardik10 Jul 2016 3:01 p.m. PST

If you can't stand to read opinions that you don't agree with, to the point where you think you have to leave the forum, perhaps the internet is not the place for you.

Tango0110 Jul 2016 3:06 p.m. PST

Yes… he did… he choose that way to walk away… I beg him to reconsider… Ultramodern is not the guilty motive of his quit… as some fellow members said here… we can see that this comming a while ago… hope he return in the near future… with Cacique Caribe he is the guy I most miss more… I'm realy sad!.

I'm assuming he left over the thread that is gone now I think. I have no problems with anyone over a disagreement but would suggest if you haven't lived with something your not going to understand it like someone who has.

Dynaman878910 Jul 2016 4:05 p.m. PST

> Do why let them upset you?

Below is a general comment about all internet discussion and not anything in particular with this site – which I find somewhat of a bit of normalcy in the cesspit that is the internet.

Only reason is I can no longer live in the blissful ignorance of the depth of human idiocy that I used to.

Silent Pool10 Jul 2016 4:56 p.m. PST

Bill, at least unlock his account and let Kyote return, should he wish.

TMP needs guys like him. peace

wrgmr110 Jul 2016 5:10 p.m. PST

WTF, he's opinionated, and funny! He adds to this looney bin, not detracts.

14Bore10 Jul 2016 5:44 p.m. PST

If anyone could be voted back in he would at least have a good chance

Ceterman10 Jul 2016 6:12 p.m. PST

+1 Cellar Door. We do need him…
He's a damn fine man.

+2 that.

And that stifle the moderator code locking an account is a really bad feature. You can stifle/unstifle any other member, but stifle a moderator and BAM! – your account is locked forever.

rmcaras Supporting Member of TMP10 Jul 2016 7:21 p.m. PST

my thoughts…since HE did it knowingly and willingly, we should respect that.

If or when he chooses to return, for any reason, he can reach out to the Editor and make those accommodations.

No special treatment. I don't think he would want that anyway.

YMMV

Bunkermeister Supporting Member of TMP10 Jul 2016 9:33 p.m. PST

That stifle the moderator code locking an account is a really good feature. Many forums do that and so do many Facebook groups.

I get his point though.

On forums where politics are Verboten, you can discuss gaming in almost any context and people will play nice.

If politics are a common topic however, certain topics will always be in danger of being derailed, because people must shout about their pet cause any time they get.

If I was going to set up an arab-israeli war scenario (for example), I'm not inclined to ask here, because there's a decent chance of wasting my time while people shout at each other.

Cyrus the Great10 Jul 2016 9:59 p.m. PST

'I never found an internet argument to convert my opponent or convince me to change.'

Actually, a couple of times my views have been changed/modified as a result of discussions on TMP.

MH Dee11 Jul 2016 10:14 a.m. PST

'I never found an internet argument to convert my opponent or convince me to change.'

Hmmm. I've changed my views on a number of occasions by reading a well-defined argument on the net. Nothing to be ashamed about really.

There are limits mind you, but I certainly would tend to listen to someone with knowledge or experience around an issue.

I don't know why he can't simply resist the urge to click on the Ultramodern Warfare board like 99% of the TMP population. Bill created a separate Ultramodern Gaming board just so he wouldn't have to read about all the politics.

His recent stint in the DH might have been the last straw though. Oh well.

Personal logo javelin98 Supporting Member of TMP11 Jul 2016 2:46 p.m. PST

Imagine if we had an "Ultramodern Napoleonics" board. The resulting cataclysm might well destroy the internet forever.

Ba Bye!

…but stifle a moderator and BAM! – your account is locked forever.

Not forever. Quite a few people have talked to the moderators, and we were able to unlock their accounts.

Sometimes, we lock an account temporarily until we can resolve issues with the individual.

I've been posting about my Arab-Israeli project, and no one has said anything controversial.
