Well you see in the Old West most things were made in one size, for men, and if a woman needed an outfit, she was advised to wear the clothes in a hot bath until they shrunk to fit. I didn't make this up, I saw it in the '70s western "Hannie Caulder" with Raquel Welch, so I know it's true and authentic. So what we have here is a young lady outlaw who tried to cut corners. She bought the vest, and put it in a pot on the stove. Too busy to sit in the bath herself -- reloading ammunition, I guess, or something like that. So the posse comes, she's got to go, and this poncho she's covering up with won't do, it's too hot and will get in the way of gunplay, so grab the vest shake it out put it on and …. gosh darn it shrunk too much! What's a girl to do? |
