This weekend the local HMGS-South group played a WWI naval game using the Seekrieg 5 rules. The scenario was based loosely on the situation in the Falklands in December 1914.

Four and a half hours to get only some way to a result is why I don't play Seekrieg :)

Looks to have been a fascinating game. Good to see a set of rules that allows for different crew qualities.

I guess, as David says, the downside to detailed rules is the time they take. Using LL Gill's zippy Fleet Action rules my club was half way through the Battle of Jutland in that time.

One of the (many) advantages of naval wargaming is that we can use different rules to represent different sized battles. The importance of base sizes makes that harder for land gamers.
