Just wondered if anyone had used this system and based their 28mm accordingly….looking for help, I appreciate the rules state they will work with most basing systems but would love to know how others use the system

I'm doing Din of Battle AngloZulu War in 28mm and as long as you have a way to show hits its doesn't really matter. I'm using individually based and a square kill marker with a casualty on it and 1,2,3 marked on three of the facings (most units are spent on the forth hit anyway) myu figures are on 25mm (1 inch) round washers Zulus mobs 16 strong double ranked and Anglo 8 strong in one rank. If you want try using sabot bases and see how it feels to play that way too.

Any basing works. Units should have a frontage of 6 to 8 inches. I use 2 inch by 1 inch a lot.

Thanks,

John

I use a 90mm base for artillery with one gun and crew.

Is the 90mm base representing a complete battery?

Yes

The number of stands can be variable. You can use a 3 inch stand and halve all ranges/movement. You can use 2 3 inch stands or basically whatever you want. I use 1 stand artillery units. There is no appreciable difference doing so. I use 3 stand Cavalry units and 4 stand infantry. For their Ancients rules, I use 3 stand units. It really doesn't matter.

Thanks,

John

Is that 90mm square

GenWinter10 Jul 2016 5:07 a.m. PST

I assume you mean Field of Battle (2). I use 1.5 inch square bases for infantry, 2 inch square bases for artillery and Cavalry (most of the time). I am gradually switching to 1.5 inch by 3 inch bases for Cavalry so that my frontages for 4 stand cavalry units will match the frontage of a 4 stand infantry unit.

You can see my basing for a variety of armies here:

Just interested are we all gaming 28mm, that is the most important fact?

mashrewba11 Jul 2016 8:34 a.m. PST

Yes , although I use the same basing for 15mm
