"From ancient times to the present day, battles have been lost to dire weather, insufficient weaponry and bad luck. But what about those for which poor judgment and bad planning are to blame?…" See here link Amicalement Armand |

Lists like this are entirely too subjective to be of any use. They can generally be described as: "My personal list of top ten military blunders." |

If have to agree – there were lots worse blunders than those! |

I have to agree with tberry7403, and there were certainly bigger blunders than the charge of the Light Brigade or Little Big Horn. |

Napoleon's advance on Moscow was a far bigger military disaster than his retreat. link Rick |

These "10 worst, 10 best, 10 most" lists are just clickbait. |

If I remember correctly, the Charge of the Light Brigade could be considered a success – didn't the Cossacks, having been around for both the Heavy and Light Brigade charges, describe British cavalry as 'Those Terrible Horseman'and refuse to face them again? |

Another vote for what Tbery said. These books are meaningless. The best book I ever read in this genre was Fletcher Pratt's "Battles that changed history." Pratt does good work in limiting it to battles which in fact, "changed" history, and were not merely merely notable. |

I expected the Aleutian Islands Campaign and the A13 mk III Covenanter to be on the list. It is really more a number of battles where 1 side literally threw away any chance of victory (not so sure about the last 4) |

I would add Pearl Harbor and Firing on Ft Sumter to that list. In neither case could ANY alternative course of action have possibly been worse for the protagonists. |

Objectively, the worst military blunder ever: 13 DEC 1991. I was commissioned in the US Navy. What were they thinking? Although, it was a Friday the 13th, so they got that bit right. |

I would say Wabash, Monongahela, and Little Bighorn were the worst blunders in history. As well as New Orleans and Fredericksburg. |
