What stories from the conflict have not been told? There have been many WWII movies made, some successful, some flops. Some were pretty good, others left a lot to be desired. If you were a Hollywood producer, which story would you Greenlight? |

Alamo in the Ardennes. The opening days of the Battle of the Bulge. The 28th Infantry Division holds out for 3 days when attacked by 10 German divisions. They kept the Hun from taking Bastogne until the 101st Airborne could arrive. This will counter the scene in Band of Brothers showing them slogging down the road handing all their ammo to the heroes. A miniseries would be great. |

My vote is for a movie about Joseph Beyrle. He is allegedly the only soldier to fight for both the U.S. Army and the Soviet army during WWII. It is a pretty cool story. link |
Winston Smith | 07 Jul 2016 6:15 a.m. PST |
That is a good story, Turbo Dog. If this turns into a multiple choice poll, it gets my vote. Grelber, another vote. Guys, thanks for giving me interesting stories to Google. |

A good case can be made that the Mob was protecting the waterfront from sabotage they did themselves initially. So yes, that would make a great cynical comedy. |

I know, How the Americans gave Sicily back to the Mafia, that is a good one. the mob only did anything for its own profit, if letting Nazis in paid, they would have done so. Now to Movies: Fury 2, A Sherman in Korea Fury 3: Fury is scrapped after the McCarthy hearings as a pro communist tank. |

I have to second Zippy's call on Tidal Wave. Would love to see CGI of the big B-24s buzzing the refineries at low level. The running gun fight with the flak train would be awesome. Phil |

In defense of "the friends of the friends", they were not too fond of Mussolini, so other than financial motives, there were other reasons as well for assisting the US both here and during the Sicilian campaign. Would definitely make an interesting movie. |

The Battle of the Ypres – Commines Canal which was also known as the Battle of Wytschaete. It was a rearguard action to hold back the German's Army Group B. and lasted 3 days. The action was a contributing factor which allowed the rest of the BEF to retreat to Dunkirk. The book The Road To Dunkirk by Charles More is a detailed account of the battle. My interest in it is that my father was there. |

Wake Island and USS Houston have already been done. And the idea of a remake of A Walk in the Sun is bad. It will only result in a bad remake of an excellent movie. I like the Imphal-Kohima idea, though. |

A really good movie about the British in the Pacific that doesn't involve a POW camp. I can't think of a good British in the jungle movie except for the POW ones. Too Late the Hero just about gets by with some action and Michael Caine on top form but it's still a ropey story. And The Long And The Short And The Tall is awful and unrealistic. If anyone can suggest a good Brits PTO movie, I'd like to hear it. |

a black "Band of Brothers" or "The Pacific"- the story of the 761st Tank Battalion (Colored) in WW2. The story could have three arcs: one about Lt. Jackie Robinson and his court martial, one about the white commanders of the battalion, and the third about SSGT. Ruben Rivers. THIS story must be told… |

The Japanese invasion of Alaska (ok, the Aleutian islands). If only because most people don't know America got invaded. I'm sure there's a love triangle we can play up to boost the box office. |
Tgerritsen | 07 Jul 2016 1:17 p.m. PST |
The Battle of Castle Itter. It's bizarre, true, and tailor made for a movie. You have French celebrities (including a sports star and former prime ministers), American's, German soldiers (including an SS officer) vs. the last vestiges of the Reich. link |

Tgerritsen | 07 Jul 2016 2:24 p.m. PST |
Sundance- that's impossible. First, you can't find 2 historians who will agree on what happened yesterday let alone in the annals of history. Truth is relative to the viewer. There's simply no way to make a movie that everyone will say, "Yep, that's exactly what happened." Now on the other hand, I can't stand when they make stuff up whole cloth, but true to history is a fool's errand. What is true to you will be nitpicked to death by someone else. |

For those that haven't heard. Max manus deals with norwegian resistance in occupied Norway. And heavy water war is a miniseries about the heavy water sabotage. Good stuff both. I personally would like to see a 10+ part miniseries about a British unit. (Band of brother style. |
