From the rulebook, I see that the playing area is gridded off into nine areas – this implies to me that a 3' by 3' playing area might be appropriate for 28mm. Am I right? |

Correct. And they are numbered from left to right, top to bottom, 1, 2, 3 then 4, 5, 6 then 7, 8, 9. |

3' x 3' is the typical standard THW game, but the majority of players use 15mm. I've played plenty of THW in every genre, and always (except AWI) in28mm. My personal taste is for 4' x 4' divided into nine 18" squares, mostly because that lets me use an abundance of terrain and ground cover, mostly as eye candy. |
