How would you go about locating somebody in the Netherlands? My son's godfather had lived in the US for years, but never renounced his Dutch citizenship or became an American. A few years ago, he got a divorce and moved back to the Netherlands, probably near Arnhem, where his family was from. My son is going to The Hague later this summer, and would like to visit him, but we have no idea as to where he is. Is there any good way to look him up? Grelber |

If you can speak Dutch then place an ad in this Arnhem newspaper. gelderlander.nl |

Phonebook, or more useful, Facebook? Send me his name and I will do some digging for you. |

Have you tried googling him? It's surprising what sometimes turns up. |

I tried Facebook, and got a few people with the same name, but none of them are my guy. Apparently his last name (van der Maas) is not uncommon in the Arnhem region (Maas River, area). I don't remember if I tried Google; I may have assumed it would generate a lot of hits based on his job as an editor here in the US. He would be in his early 70s by now. Grelber |

There are only two vd ( van de/van der ) Maas registered in the phone book ( detelefoongids.nl ) in Arnhem. Three in Nijmegen. That's not too bad, is it? |
