I've only recently discovered Irregular Wars and am impressed with what I've found so far. I've ordered the rules off of Amazon and look forward to their arrival. As a "smaller armies" type of guy this really appeals to me. So I am curious if the rules have been adapted by anyone for other conflicts? I see that the author was working on an ancients version. Was that ever completed? Anyone try using the rules for other conflicts that involve professional soldiers like the American War of Independence? World War 1? American Civil War? WW2 perhaps? Just curious and am looking forward to playing the game. Thanks. EDIT: Yes I understand the rules were written for small scale forces in times and places those were used. That is great and I want to do those but I want to know if anyone has used them for more too. Thanks again. |

I love the ruleset, I haven't thought about using it for other periods but I think it could be good for Zulu tribal warfare, Sokoto Caliphate, Trojan Wars, etc. |

I'd like to know what you think once you give them a go. Someone on here posted that I could use them for an element based game of New England townsfolk, militia and witch hunters vs. witches and assorted forces of darkness. |

79thPA that would be a fantastic setting to wargame out. Sort of a larger version of Witchfinder General. You've inspired me there. I will post what I come up with. For example I am thinking of the Alto-Cenepa War of 1995 between Ecuador and Peru. Also perhaps the Italian invasion of Ethiopia. |
