Not seeing many posts lately. Are these rules no longer that widely played? Or just not posted often here?

Mars Ultor03 Jul 2016 7:34 p.m. PST

The successors to WAB are played in pretty localized areas. They're good games, just been drowned out in a deluge of ancients rules. I've mostly done CoE but I;ve seen some WaC stuff on here and there. Neither has done as well as Hail Caesar, which is a different style.

… and which rides the Warlord commercial juggernaut and has the imprematur of Rick Priestly upon its name.

WR seconds Mars Ultor
Hail Caesar and Clash of Empires (CoE) in this neck of the woods. Haven't seen a W&C game yet. They are out there someplace. WR thinks the BP movement like system which W&C uses just doesn't feel right with ancients.

I played W@C but wasn't too sure about the weighted dice throws, I found it a bit clunky. However, I can't remember a 'BP' type movement system. Apart from a command roll if you want to march within a set distance of the enemy, I thought you were free to move as required?

Henry Martini – I was thinking the same thing when I wrote that. Bingo. HC got a lot of momentum off of the names, which is not the best of qualifications. Haven't played it, but it must have its merits.

I have the rules and they look the most akin to WAB, which I did enjoy. Where can one find army lists? Or do players just make their own? I'm not planning on any competition type play.

I'm a big fan of WAC, my problem tends to be finding other larger armies for historical counterparts… though i could always push for the fantasy rules.
I have done some vid reports here: youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1-dR3hR0NCmQzP0Jdcp5zU8c0sgPGyiq

As for lists they're all free to download from the scarab forum: scarabminiatures.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=41&sid=73f8d15c6f88b0f42cd61f4c3b102d6b

Hope that helps

WAC is pretty whack!

Korvessa04 Jul 2016 4:27 p.m. PST

I like it and play it solo.
Unfortunately, I live about a gazillion miles from any other gamer

Played a lot of WaC for a while, but had some issues with lists and found some of the rules (mainly leadership based) took away the excitement of a good game, so went back to WAB.

I discovered them two years ago and have never regretted it, you can find a lot of reports etc. here link

I just got the WaC book in the mail yesterday. It is gorgeous from cover to cover. If the rules are decent then its a winner as far as I'm concerned. I'm finishing a Carthaginian army and then I plan to revamp my Republican Roman army. Any potential opponents in the Charlotte NC area?
