Does anyone know if there was any air combat between Libya and Egypt during their short, but messed up war in 1977? |

Wikipedia lists losses of: 4 Mig-21 (Egypt) 2 Su-20 (Egypt) 20 Mirage 5 (Libya) 1 Mig23MS (Libya) However, doesn't mention how losses occurred. link |

Thanks, Bill. Saw that entry. Haven't found much else on the net. |

Yea, the air war. Libya attacked Egypt first, if my memory serves me correctly. Then, the Egyptians retaliated. Also, proxy battles in Yemen, IIRC. |

That's about the size of it, Mako. |

Actually, as I recall there was also a ground skirmish that was notable only for the fact that more vehicles were destroyed by left over WWII land mines than any other cause. Gaddafi got his panties in a bunch about something and threatened to invade Egypt. The Egyptians didn't like this idea one little bit and had the temerity to fight back. That's about all that I remember of the incident. Not even sure how much of its real since it was 40 years ago. |

Yeah only two actual A2A combats but lots of what if possibilities. Both Air Forces were fairly close in capability with the Egyptians having the advantage in combat experience. We've played both the actual war and a hypothetical turn of the century rematch using AWC21 and 1/600th models. Fatman |
