What are we going to do now that there will not be any new Games of Thrones until Season 7?

Oh and it will not be here until April of next year.

Seriously, there are plenty of people out there more obsessed than I.
They will be tracking down actor signings and getting who they are supposed to be wrong.
They will be pining for Lady Stoneheart.
They will be admonishing GRRM for going to the grocery or beer store when he should be finishing books. (I got over that…)
They will be putting ridiculous tinfoil hat theories on their blogs.

Let them do all the heavy lifting on that. There is Walking Dead and a whole complete NFL season to take up my GoT time in the meantime.

Well, we'll all be busy reading Book 6 "The Winds of"….okay now I'll get serious. They'll start shooting around January so we'll have plenty of disinformation around then, We'll get some Margaery/the Blackfish/someone else really isn't dead because we never saw their body. Folks will speculate that Jorah has found a cure and returns to take his lands back from Lyanna causing all sorts of trouble in the North. There will be plenty of speculation that having destroyed the Religion of the Seven, Cersei will turn to the "Lord of Light" with Melisandre's guidance (they both like to burn things). GRRM will release a few chapters around this or that Comic-con.

This of course actually leads to an idea. Way back when on MASH there was an episode where everything was quiet and everyone was bored and then B.J.'s wife sent him a mystery novel and everyone wanted to read it and was bugging B.J. about it so finally he tore out the first chapter and gave it to Hawkeye who gave it to Winchester who gave it to Col. Potter who… and so on down the line. As B.J. would finish a Chapter it too would enter the distribution line. Now by now GRRM must be at least halfway done with "The Winds of Winter" so why can't he do the same? There is no law that says that each book has to be 700+ pages, since he has already released some chapters why not sell them instead? I would buy the first half of the book, call it Book 6A and then wait for the second half, Book 6B. Since the Books really don't end on cliff hangers anyway it seems to me as though adapting what he has wouldn't be all that much trouble. For those who are willing to wait after Book 6A & 6B are put out you release a special collector's edition with both. There is precedent for it, wasn't Book 4 originally split up in England? Even if not some books used to appear first as serializations in Magazines.

But other than that, paint, build, gripe….

MARGAERY: "I make my saving throw- OK, let's see…yep, sixteen-hundred sixes, I'm good." grin

I have said the same thing, jowady. ESPECIALLY since the publisher could sell two smaller books for half again (or more) as much as one book. And the longer this drags out, the less sales there will be.

Thousand-plus page books were a stupid idea from the get-go.

Soon, I'll have college football to keep me happy. And, I was promised winter. I'm already sick of summer. Not the dire wolf, poor thing.

Would be in the future a big naval battle?

Woman with the dragons wins. There you go saved you watching any more. Unless for you the journey is more important than the destination.

GRRM, is that you?

Speaking of GoT wargaming subjects- I'm surprised that no-one commented on what kind of catapults were on the ships attacking Mereen. Does anyone know if they were historical machines, or totally made-up for the show ?

It means I can get to re-watching Six Feet Under.

I'm just waiting until it's all over to see by how far most people missed the mark or those who will continue that character x was the main one and everything else is just a clever deception only they and Martin are in on.

Tankrider03 Jul 2016 6:26 p.m. PST

I think it's all b.s. because, as was said in season one, they really are all living in the big blue eye of a giant.

Soon we'll be back to so and so is a Blackfyre or is that just a book thing? I can no longer remember.

I agree. Look at how Bernard Cornwell's series writes his series or how Patrick OBrien or C.S. Forrester or pretty much everyone else writes theirs. Meanwhile "A Dance with Dragons" came out just 9 Days short of five years ago. However GRRM is releasing Chapters, one of his most recent contains all sorts of Euron stuff. And from what he has released the books are going to be substantially different from the series from here on, to the point where it seems that they are essentially going to be two completely different stories. GRRM has evidently released and or read at various Cons something like 11 Chapters so far. Assuming that he isn't reading everything he has written the 11 Chapters plus other stuff would be well on the way to a normal length volume of a fantasy/historical series.

1) Get my 15mm Spanish Napoleonic army ready to be painted.

2) Then there are some Dark Africa armies that are 90% completed that need to be finished.

3)Austrian and Russian 15mm Napoleonic armies to be based.

4)Continue my 1914-16 North Sea campaign (half over).

5)GMT Napoleonic Wars and Avalanche Press Soldier Kings need to be tried out yet.

Plenty to do…just need to figure out how to not sleep again.

langobard04 Jul 2016 4:05 a.m. PST

I have 15 boxes of Perry plastic Austrian infantry to glue together, paint, and base, so I'm good.

"I'm surprised that no-one commented on what kind of catapults were on the ships attacking Mereen"

The Roman name for them would have been onagers. Although with a performance far exceeding the historical version.

tomrommel105 Jul 2016 8:08 a.m. PST

I will paint and eventually play with my GoT armies until next season comes around

Thomas Thomas05 Jul 2016 12:51 p.m. PST

Watch the HBO 6th Season after reading.

Work on more army lists for Game of Ice and Fire.
