Always worry about any book showing a known author followed by "with". Usually means the main man couldn't be bothered with the story so passed it down the line.

or it could mean as it sounds, a series of books that to authors are tackling together. Always worry about a critic from someone who has not read or seen the subject material. hahahaha

Read them (trilogy with more to follow).

Solid writing.

Don't be surprised to see some early significant characters die.

Read the post. I made no comment on the book in question, just a general comment on "with" authorship based on past experience.

With that sort of reasoning, I would never have read "The Mote in God's Eye" by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle.

Well, I'd read books by both of them separately, so gave their teamup a go based on individual previous works.

Same for Niven/Barnes.

I'm just not a fan of OSC.
