Gents, Darkest Africa – Abushiri Revolt, 1889…those Arabs and Germans are at it again! Having recently finished off some new German marines I was keen to give them a blooding. This time we venture back to April, 1889 and the Abushiri revolt. The game was played using Rifles & Spears, my own adaptation of Muskets & Tomahawks. It proved to be a most interesting encounter…one unlike any other we've every played I think! Lots to see and discuss, hope you can pop in and check it out…the post is composed of two parts, part one today…the second to follow smartly in its tracks… Regards Happy Wanderer. wp.me/p1YrZG-M6 link link

Love the "ground level" pics. They really add an urgency and perspective that is missing from a lot of photos. |

This is stupendous…..and, with musketry background noise being provided to enjoy viewing the beautiful AAR pics by!!! Happy Wanderer, I follow your posts here and on the Lead Adventure forum too, and thanks for reporting on both boards. This year I've dived into Colonial Adventure gaming, and its been so much fun collecting and painting forces for, and making up new terrain. The Wargames Foundry figs, and Copplestone's additional line are endlessly entertaining to paint (just got some 28mm dugout canoes from John Jenkins miniatures in preparation for a riverine raid scenario planned for next month). Anyway, keep crafting your inspired blog postings and forum links up for us – and thanks! |

*mwindsorfw Love the "ground level" pics. I second that! Great AAR and game Im sure. Brings to mind the 'game periscope', that some would use to check for LOS (have not seen one in yrs though). It gave you a great veiw, what the 'troops' would see, as if 'down there' in the action. *legatushedlius Unusual armies and excellent shots Agreed. So easy to forget at times, the "world and european wars", were not the only conflicts. |
