The Mechanicsville Skirmishers play tested my scenario for H'con. The Americans defended Chatterton's Hill, White Plains NY. The scenario is based on the Back Powder "Rebellion" scenario with a few house rules, like possible fire starting in the wheat fields. The Militia BE moved up quickly to take advantage of the rock walls only to be quickly assaulted by British regulars. The Hessians had command roll problems and did not get into the battle until turn 6. The Americans on the hill (Smallwoods MD Regt) also had problems passing command rolls and did not launch their counterattack until turn 5 and then being brutally shot up by the Hessian Jeagers and British Converge Lights…By the end of turn 8 (out of 12 turns) the American Army had 50% casualties and was forced to flee the battlefield.

Redcoats assault militia defending rock wall

the battle lines are drawn…

the fighting is so "hot" fire starts in the wheat field

The battle was a fun one and if the Americans could have fallen back to the hill the outcome surly would have been different…great play by the British and Hessian commanders. The games ready for Historicon. See ya in a few weeks… :)
