I'd like to find sources of boats (both rowed wooden boats and steam launches), anchors, and maybe other bits like hatch combings, intake ventilators, railings, etc. in some scale close to 1/1200 (say, between 1/1000 & 1/1500). I'd also like to find a source of generic small WWI-era deck guns (3"-6") in a similar scale, preferably with gun shields. Suggestions welcome. I'm finally getting around to building the small fleets of 1/1000 scale Houston's ironclads I bought late last year, and as I've found with other primitive castings (Navwar, Skytrex, Panzerschiffe), these benefit enormously from additions and replacements from the parts bin. Yesterday I dressed up the Andrea Doria with wire spars, flagpoles and topmast, I filed off the horrible cast-on boats and replaced them with GHQ 1/1200 Micronauts boats, and I added some GHQ 1/1200 Micronauts anchors. Until/unless I find a source of deck guns, I can't do anything about the 4.7" and 6" guns that look totally out of scale on her, so for now those are staying (yech). I know a few sources of boats: Langton (in 1/1200, rowed only), WTJ (a bit small at 1/1500, but includes both rowed and steam launches), and if I ever figure out which ships' sprues to order, I can order more boats from GHQ. I can also get more anchors from GHQ (again, if I figure out which kits to specify as a source of sprues). I'd like to find more sources of add-on bits for small scale ship models. Any pointers? - Ix |

straight pins, with flat tops, make intake ventilators go to Alnavco alnavco.com/warship.htm If that doesn't go to warships, on the menu, choose that then parts. There are several guns there |

Thanks, I forgot about Alnavco. If only they had pictures…
straight pins, with flat tops, make intake ventilators I don't understand how that would look anything like a cowl vent on an old coal-powered steam ship. Do you have any pictures? Maybe I'm just not picturing the right thing. I'm looking for something like these:
I can make my own using plastic rod or aluminum or plastic tubing, but if someone sold bunches of them cheaply enough I'd probably buy a few (scale) tons of them. - Ix |

Ix, I think what dragon6 is talking about are the mushroom style ventilators, like you see on the USS Texas. BWW |

Pico Armor sells Brigade Models gun packs. They are fort guns but I have successfully cut some down for deck guns without too much effort. |
