One of my gaming buddies posted photos and accounts of playing an English Civil War game on his lawn:

One of the fun things he did was to mow his lawn to "create" forests and hedges:

He used the "Warr Without an Enemie" rules, with his only change being to double all ranges (moving, shooting, command, etc.). "WWAE" rules are from the Wyre Forest Wargames Club:
