For colony defense troops, militia and so forth, what figures do you like best? 15mm scale only please. Looking for something that looks a bit paramilitary but relatively lightly equipped. |

Rebel Minis has some nice options in their modern range, like the German KSK (armed with G36 rifles and some kind of SMG -- maybe a suppressed MP5?): link There's also the US SWAT Team, with what look like MP5s or UMPs and AR-15s with underslung "master key" shotguns. link |

I have some PP French foreign legion that could also do double-duty. |

The gzg colony troops for sure…and the khurasan one above. I mixed them with ex-armies army poles and gzg mercs to make my black rose merc opposing forces. They fit well together. I like the armies army insurgents very much too.

The colony troops from GZG. Like all of Jon's stuff they are super. |

How do the Khurasan and GZG guys match up? I have Khurasan cold war figures and they're easily a head taller than my other figures. |

There is a company out of Texas called ACP Games that makes some nice 15mm sci-fi troops. Their website is: acpgames.com I'm not associated with them, but did bend their ears quite a bit at a convention last weekend. BWW |

GZG trend to be 16mm to eye level. The Pan African Union range will also work as colonial troops. |

For a standard and generic look i really like the modern US or Colonial Marines from Stan Johanson miniatures |

Too many good choices to limit paramilitary troops or insurgents to one company |

I might be biased, but I do like mine :)

@weasel The newer gzg lines are bigger and match up well w khurasan near perfectly IMHO. |

MrHarold, those are great! I'm not sure how I missed them before. Definitely going on my "Paint-Bucket" list. |

Khurasan's Modern IDF with Tavor rifle, could be used as low tech militia? |

Appreciate it Twoball. As well a everyone else suggesting stuff. This didn't make it any easier to pick, on account of too many good options :-) |

I love the new GZG CDF (and PAU figs) but they are scaled "up" significantly as compared to prior GZG figs as well as the Rebel and Khurusan figures (mounted on horse) I own. I recently purchased some mounted scouts to mix with my Khurusan mounted figs (and some others). The non-GZG mounted figs looked like children on ponies in comparison. Again, absolutely adore the new CDF figs. I think they are some of the best sculpts ever from GZG – but they are "big". |
