I have acquired a second hand set of 25/28mm Gladiators and plan to shortly order some 15/18mm ones. I believe I have the PDF gladiator layout (2D) for THW's old Red Sand Blue Sky rules (Plus Red Sand, Black Moon; Red Sand, Brown Sky,) but I am thinking how cool would it be to have a 3D 25/28mm and a 15/18mm arena. So, any suggestions for building a simple arena like structure or an affordable version in either scale I could buy between now and November? |

Maybe a couple of years ago someone built a arena that was very awesome and posted photos. Try looking back, |

If you want cheap and simple, craft stores sell a thing that looks like a bunch of 2 inch fence boards held together by flexible wire. I looked online, and they were called miniature fairy garden fencing (they come in 18 inch strips). I bought a couple of strands of these, spray painted them brown, and then use them as a cheap arena or stockade as the need arises. They fold up to take almost no space. |

Here's a quick 15mm one. Even has the zones laid out for RSBS. link |

I found that structures tended to get in the way with people leaning on them. Plus some times its hard to see or get at the figures when they are in the arena. Finally, you are stuck with one size arena no matter what the battle is. They look great but in the end we decided they were limiting and just went with a straight mat that we could use wet erase markers on. Plus we can have several matches going on at one time by using a mat. |

For 15mm, I'd probably start by trying the 1/8" insulation board (fan fold) and stacking it stair-step fashion to build up simple bleachers. So, for example, if you wanted the arena to be about 8" wide (the stands, not the field), your first piece would be 8" wide by however long you want it. The next piece would be slightly shorter and glued on top. Keep doing that and eventually you'll build up a full arena. I'd probably do it in four sections -- two straights and two curved endpieces, but for simplicity, you could make it a rectangle and not curve the ends. |

Many many years ago there was the 1/72 Atlantic ROMAN COLOSSEUM . It's pretty rare now. In 1/72 it would be a bit big for 15mm and small for 28mm, but I'd be happy with one for 15mm. (Heck, I'd be happy with one.) YouTube link link |

There is at least one paper/card model out there (modular and scalable). Sorry no link right now. Looks good. I started it but moved on to another project. |

Thanks for all. I bought the a 25mm small arena from a gentleman. I bought a 15mm small arena from Acheson Creations. I am good for local and regional gladiatorial events. |
