Hi all,

We just moved to the Hudson River Valley (Highland Falls, specifically) and I'm looking to tie in to the local gaming community.

Are there any gamers or clubs from the area lurking on TMP? Can anyone recommend good nearby stores?

I mostly play historicals, WWII being my favorite period, but I will game just about anything. Some of my favorite systems include Chain of Command, Battlegroup, and Saga.

Thanks!

I'm in Wappingers Falls, just below Poughkeepsie. There are a couple of game store here in Poughkeepsie, one does a lot of the tournament based games, warmahordes, 40k etc… and the other is mostly a comic store. I don't know about right around you but there is also a couple of stores in Nanuet NY about an hour southish of you along the Jersey border, exit 14 on the Thruway. ToyWiz has a LOT of play space and regular groups that play there, and Hobby Town seems to have a bigger selection of product but less space. There is a group of mostly retired guys here in Dutchess County, several of which are on TMP and I'm sure Larry will come by and invite you to the mailing list where they plan things. I game with them occasionally but my weekend schedule is all messed up becuase of traveling for work.

There is a cadet gaming club on West Point. Professor Steve Waddel is the faculty sponsor.

I'm with the Hudson Valley/Conn. War Game Club.
We play a wide variety mostly Historic games.
ACW,AWI,WW11,Pirates,Cogs,Napoleonics,Age of Sail,WW1 Air, Dark Age etc.
For a change of pace we also play a Pulp or Steam Punk scenario.

I play down at the Hobby Town in Nanuet mostly Thursdays after work 7:30pmish. It's just off exit 8 of the Palisades Parkway.

Toy Whiz has a very active group as Whitphoto said.

Thanks for the advice! I'll pop into Toy Whiz and Hobby Town sometime in the next week.

Larry, I'll be in touch!

The club at ToyWiz has it's big monthly game night the first Thursday of every month. Some people start showing up as early as 5 but 7ish is usually when the place starts filling up
