Forgive a naive question but I do not know my way around 15/18mm figures terribly well. I am hoping to work on a Napoleonic era open carriage with someone like the Tsar and/or Kutuzov settled in, but cannot find any seated figures in that scale. I had imagined I would find limber riders that I could slice apart for the lower torso and legs but have had no luck. I am almost reduced to WWII figures eg three Russkies seated in a GAZ, but the PPSh might be hard to explain for 1812. The ideal would be any senior officers, from the Napoleonic era, seated. Failing that breeches and boots better than overalls………but frankly anything would do. I have seen the Borodino museum preserved Kutuzov carriage, but I plan something a little more…………. upmarket? |

Old Glory 15s made an open carriage with one of Napoleon's marshals in it. It's been a long time so I can't remember the name of the seated figure, and I don't know if it is still in production. |

Many thanks. I'll pursue all these further. Much chopping and converting to do…… |

could you possibly use a limber rider? At least you have the sitting part maybe just a torso swap??? |

How great to get this feedback after such an interval. Really appreciated both! Currently I have cheated by amputating two Russian ADCs to create Tsar Alex I and King FW III. Their lack of anything below the hips will be hidden by the front cover of a Britschka (a kind of carriage) and a judiciously placed blanket. Currently built and at the painting stage. Now what next I wonder?????

That looks like it would solve the problem nicely . I would be delighted to help with a couple of seated portraits,if there was any other demand for them but yours… unfortunately , unless the carriage was available as well, I don't think I could sell another. |

Essex Miniatures do a coach and general, both generic:- NE45 Coach with four horses & driver with a Napoleonic General I had a feeling Minifigs did one, too, but can't find it in their current 15mm listings. Neither quite up to Mr Barton's high standards, obviously, but potentially a good starting point for conversions. |

Doubtless AB will recognise his figures as above and forgive the drastic surgery they have undergone! That Essex Min coach we have heard of here before, once, but no one could find a picture of it. Massena at Wagram comes to mind? I am running out of ideas now, having made Boney's famous Berline Coupe in 28 and 15mm, the Waterloo Despatch coach 28mm, the Malmaison carriage from Genappe 28mm, Boney's sleigh in 15mm and 28mm (the latter Perry), Louis XVIII departure 28mm, The Tsar's landau in 15mm and 28mm (the latter Westfalia) and now the coach of FW III in 15mm. Austria comes to mind. I feel a trip to Vienna and the Schonbrunn museum coming on……… |

So today I worked further on them and actually plucked up the courage to do the Prussian eagle…..black on yellow. Still needs tidying up……. But getting there. The King and Tsar are "sitting" in the end link For me it is the lamps…I worked on those. Nine parts to each…..Oh YES……I am invincible…. I do not do false modesty…….. |

Promise the photography will be better when done…This is just hand held flash! f32 with four spotlights and 5 secs exposure, for depth of focus and massive tripod….and a ten year old digital camera! That is the way to do it……… |

DH absolutely lovey what are you going to do with so many carriages have a race? |
deadhead | 27 Sep 2016 7:40 a.m. PST |
Her indoors tells me what to do with the carriages. They go where the sun don't shine….in the attic in boxes. Well the 28mm ones do anyway. The 15/18mm ones find a better home with Julian Mizzi in Oz. Just posted the finished article on Gallery. I'd still love just one or two seated figures…….. |

Oh this is parade ground, eye candy, only, but posted final pics here; TMP link I did not want to be told off for overdoing the crossposting, so Gallery only. This is nowhere near any battlefield, it is in Heidelberg, not even Prussia then..

Hi Deadhead – Paul Alba would like to pass on the following feedback. "Could you pass on my congratulations to Deadhead on the coaches. Stunning work!!! Its the kinda stuff that inspires us all!!!" I tend to agree :) |
deadhead | 29 Sep 2016 7:08 a.m. PST |
Cheers. Much appreciated having seen Paul's work! There is a box here in front of me with your address on it.
It is like Tut's sarcophagus. A plastic box packed with insulation, inside a Nespresso cardboard box, packed with plastic beads (big ones, not the bean bag ones I used before) and scrunched up copies of the Telegraph telling you about Big Sam's downfall. I posted the finished article on the Gallery earlier, but that may be overlooked (The ends are designed to just snap off, but help secure it for transport) You'll have noticed that all horses have reversing harness, when it should only be the rear pair, the wheel horses, but we'll keep quiet about that. No one else will notice! I forgot the reversing chains for them, but again………
