guys around the end of the first world italy received some ft-17 tanks ,however france was not able to supply quantity needed,so italy built a almost exact copy, fiat 3000a machine gun, fiat 3000b cannon. what i want to know is how many of the french ft-17 did italy have, not interested in the fiat copy |

I can't find the reference, but if I remember correctly In September of 1918 they put together a tank unit with 8(?) FT-17's and 2 Fiat 2000's but it's not believed that the unit actually saw combat. Note, I see so many contradictory things about early Italian tanks it's really not clear what the actual situation was. They also received some (at least one) Schneider tank. link |

I've just checked Steven Zaloga's book "The Renault FT Light Tank" (Osprey Vanguard series). Page 24, he says "Italy had received three FT's in June 1918, but the French proved unwilling to provide enough to form combat units." |

Chick: Nice! The question, as I understood it, it how many in toto, not how many in action in WWI. |

In the link I provided it says that 100 were "completed" -- but does not say whether or not a total of 100 were delivered. Or when they were delivered (may have been delivered after WW1). Some of the sources imply that they only received the four FT-17s. |
