Almost finished with these, I think they need a little wear on the leading edges, then they'll be finished. 3D printed, 1/144 scale SB2U Vindicators, if I had to hazard a guess, I'd say they were from kampfflieger's shop. The undersides are Vallejo Model Color lt gray while the tops are pastel blue. The rudders are Vallejo Model Air PRU Blue, the intent was to go just a bit darker on the rudders to represent the red & white stripes having been overpainted. Could have gone a touch darker I imagine. Decals are a mix, most of them are from Miscellaneous Miniatures but I think #6 is sporting I-94 stars on the fuselage, and about half of the white-tape decals are thin slices of Microscale decals. I think I've gotten the measurements figured out in 1/144 scale. I expect to test fit the same set of decals, in 1/200 scale, in the not too distant future. Kevin miscmini.com

Handsome work! Great to see that someone can make Shapeways prints look so good. Did you need to perform any special preparation of the surface before painting? Nice touch on the rudder over-painting, by the way. |

Sweet, Kevin…I must get another order off to you soon! Do you work on Great War aircraft in 1/285th scale? |

Thanks all, for the kind remarks. MacrossMartin – These models are printed with the WSF material. I used aerosol primer. I applied four or five coats of a triple thick primer followed by the light gray primer that I normally use. I have better results scraping or filing the models rather than sanding them. The sequence is scrape/file – prime – scrape/file – prime… final prime, and then wet sand. Darryl – sure. I have a few other projects that I need to finish and ship but I'm up for that. |
