The 5th had two companies of lancers, only B participated in the charge against determined Colorado infantry which proved a total disaster. On the Union side, Rush's Lancers, the 6th Pennsylvania.They ditched the lances in mid 1863 for carbines. |

Fortunately, lancers never caught on in the US. Never the less, the 6th PA seems to be one of those units that is painted by large numbers of gamers (yo tambien). |

As far as I can tell, they never used the lances in a charge. They got the usual picket and escort duty. The major combat came after they had discarded the lances. |
