Odd scale, I know, but I have lots of Blue Moon and Eureka 18's for the MAW so I was thinking of doing a few modifications to open up another period. Any suggestions for converting the M1833 leather shako? I was planning on picking up some of the Texas Revolution range and picking through that for my Militia forces, and using the New Orleans Greys as USMC in the cotton uniform. Are there any good figures to represent naval personnel? Anyone else tried this out? I've seen some of the QRF 15's for the SemWar, but I'm not very fond of the sculpting style. Thanks in advance for the assistance! |

The nice thing about a skirmish style war like 2SW is that you can mix different manufacturers' miniatures without it looking too obvious. I use lots of different 15s and some Blue Moon and it is fine. Do head swaps with shakos that are cropped and chopped into the dumpy leather hat. The very natue of that hat makes it easy to convert. Some piccies here: link link link Mark |

Thanks for the links, Mark! Looks like a great game, with some very nice terrain. Are there any useable figures from the other Blue Moon ranges that could be used as US troops in the shako? I'm fairly confident I could trim and file a shako down to the right shape, but I hate to buy a bag of figs just for the heads. Maybe some late-war Regulars from the 1812 line, with a bit of "painting conversion" done to them? |

I'm sure there are some. I am not familiar with the 1812 Blue Moons though. That sounds very do able though. |
