Are these rules like Sharp Practice of Arthurian Times. Do you get to make your own warlord and fight in campaigns? |

Yes indeed, that is the idea. It is a bit narrower in focus than Sharp Practice – Dux Brit only looks at warfare in dark ages Britain. Things like rules for archery and cavalry are left simplified because they didn't figure very prominently in warfare in Britain in that period (compared to, say, warfare in what is now France as Frankish heavy cavalry rose to prominence). I don't have it, but the expansion book covering Scotland and Ireland might add more detail on other aspects of dark ages warfare. The thing with Dux Brit is that players have a hand of cards each, which provide options/flavour for their forces in addition to the core rules (which are pleasantly straight forward) and the activation deck. I think that is a bit different from Sharp Practice as well. For what it is worth, I really like the campaign system, based on building the warlord's career. |

The Raiders addition is indeed almost essential as it also adds something to the original core rules. Over the last few weeks however there's another rule set slowly 'creeping' in.
