The only "highlight" of brexit was the supposed lower pound.

But the norweian krone is so attached to oil prices. It's now worth less then Soviet rubles.

Even with the drastic £ fall. The pound is still 11.6 kr. While the pound is only 9.2 Danish kr. The pound hasn't been under 10 norweian kr for 15 years…

I'm going Danish, I'm taking that potato and showing it down my throat.

SWMBO is half Swedish and half Danish, so I … should probably just shut up about that right now.

zippyfusenet24 Jun 2016 8:04 a.m. PST

Oooh. Cheese Danish, please.

My girlfriend and I went to "Paris in town" in Palm Beach Gardens yesterday. She had crepes with lemon and honey, I have "Ouefs au gratin" (baked eggs with gruyere cheese, spinach, ham and French bread toast on the side).

An older NY(C) couple walks in, sits next to us and orders two Danish for breakfast. I almost keeled over!

Oy VEY!

If you're Norwegian, you're already Danish anyways ;-)

Is there any perceptible difference between Swedes, Norwegians, Danes, Icelanders or Finns anyway? I'm sure Gunfreak has previously indicated all his Scandinavian brethren are as one.

We're not allowed fancy foreign food anymore frown

Ochoin, you have successfully given simultaneous offense to all Swedes, Norwegians, Danes, Icelanders, and Finns reading this forum -- as well, probably, as our Faroese readers, who would be offended by being excluded from the list. Each of these nationalities and ethnicities takes great pride in its identity and distinguishes itself from its neighbors.

My maternal ancestors are Finns, and I learned a useful mnemonic for distinguishing among the three closest Scandinavian cultures: "The Norwegians eat to live. The Danes live to eat. And the Swedes eat to drink."

Speaking of which, it's Friday afternoon, and I could use something to eat and to drink about now. This whole topic has made me hungry.

Only to the ones who can't understand a tongue-in-cheek remark.

BTW the Faroes are a part of Denmark: self-governing, I believe but still technically Danish)

I would think the Finns might be that strange cousin to the Nordics that has a bit different complexion and opens their eggs on the wrong end. But hey, snow and reindeer so it's all good. wink

The finns are our none related heavy drinking "uncle"

I I think genetically speaking there is no difference. Might be some strange markers on the inbread people of norweian north west. That separates them from the rest of us.

SWMBO has a maternal Danish grandfather and Swedish grandmother and a paternal Swedish grandfather and Danish grandmother (which still makes her half and half). Apparently when asking the Danish/Swedish grandfathers why they married a 'foreigner' the answer is, "Swedish/Danish chicks are hot."

If Finns are in gang, why Estonians are forgotted? ;-)

Ochoin, my response was every bit as tongue-in-cheek as your remark.

Sho Boki, that's an good question, and the answer is probably the Treaty of Nystad.
